Hi I'm Erika Davis

I'm happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Southern California. I was one of only about 20 LDS people in my high school but I enjoyed being a minority and explaining to people about my beliefs and standards. I served a mission for the LDS church in Argentina and love speaking Spanish. I enjoy playing sports - especially soccer, going to the beach, spending time with my family, camping, reading, baking, traveling to different countries and learning about different cultures. Currently, I am a graduate student working on my master's in Marriage and Family Therapy. Many people have complimented me on my happy and positive demeanor. I love having fun, smiling, laughing and being fun!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon ultimately because I believe in Jesus Christ. The gospel principles that I've been taught since I was a child (faith, forgiveness, mercy, love, God's plan for his children, hope, families, etc) resonate more and more with me as I grow and mature in a world full of fallacies, disappointment and despair. The Book of Mormon, is evidence that God loves all his children. It is ancient scripture that complements the Bible and contains a promise of truth and happiness. I have read the Book of Mormon several times and have pondered and prayed about it's message. I know its true. Because I know the Book of Mormon is true, I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's church upon the earth and is directed through Jesus Christ by His prophet and modern revelation. Being a Mormon and living the gospel principles I have been taught, bring me happiness.

How I live my faith

Honesty and Integrity are two principles that govern my daily life. I try to live each day in a way that would be pleasing to our Heavenly Father. Prayer and scripture study are two daily practices that help me have the strength to combat the small things that distract me from being Christ-like. Small acts of kindness and service on a regular basis help me see beyond myself and develop compassion and love for others. Recently, I was a volunteer for a local ESL program teaching English to Spanish speakers. I also have been involved in planning weekly activities for LDS young adults in my neighborhood that provide a mid-week spiritual boost teamed with fun and entertainment. I also enjoy visiting and receiving visits from others with whom I attend church. I try to have a positive outlook on life and hope to radiate love and happiness to others who may need an extra boost!
