Hi I'm Shannon

I grew up in New England. I'm an outgoing, energetic SAHM. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a SAHM of two little ones. I've been happily married for 6 years. It's been a bumpy ride at times, I will not lie ;) but, I do not regret one second of it! I've moved a lot in the past 6 yrs out west, back east, and now out west again. I've learned to embrace change better, and am really close to my husband and kids! I enjoy taking pictures, playing the piano, cooking, entertaining, and playing on our Wii with freinds & family! I am very outgoing and love meeting new people. I believe it's never to late to change your life if there's something about it that you don't like. I am working on being more patient, on eating healthier and working out regularly, and waking up bright and early every day! Every day is not perfect for me, but every day I just do my best!

Why I am a Mormon

I am the kind of person who questions EVERYTHING - my forte in school was always science classses. I don't really believe things until I have proof. So, even though I grew up LDS (as a member of the mormon faith), I didn't have the strongest testimony as I got older because I was always questioning it. I then moved out on my own when I graduated HS, and had just started dating my future husband. I told him some about the church, but it wasn't until we were really serious about each other several months later that I realized I DID believe it all. I didn't, and still don't, understand everything, but I knew I believed the basics of what the LDS believes. "We believe in God the Eternal Father and in his son Jesus Christ and in the Holy Ghost." When I really thought about life in general deep down I could not deny this greater existance. And more spefically in a Heavenly Father who loves each of us as His children. I also knew that it didn't make since to not have a modern-day prophet to guide and lead the church today. A Heavenly Father who loves each of us individually would not have prophets on the earth and then just stop. Our world is ever changing. We need guidance in such a crazy and confusing place! The principles he teaches us do not change, but the challenges we have do. And lastly, I was in love! I loved my (then fiance) and knew that I wanted to be with him forever. That our relationship was very secial to me, and that we could be married and sealed for time and all eternity. I wanted that so badly, that I knew I needed to really think about if I believed in the LDS faith. And if I did, then I needed to be true to myself and live it! This is when my testimony of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints really grew. Deep down I knew it was true - although I did not understand it all perfectly - and I could not deny it. Now, I work every day on reading the scriptures and through prayer to understand everything more clearly.

How I live my faith

I struggle with keeping a daily routine, but I am getting better. I try to read my scriptures and have a personal prayer every morning first thing, and hopefully before my 1 yr old and 3 yr old wake up! It's not easy, but it helps me start my day out right. I have a better perspective of what's really important and what I want for myself and my family in the long run. God knows my daily personal challenges and struggles, and I can't overcome them very well without His help! I also try to teach my children principles that will help them understand who they are and why we are here on Earth. I often sing songs I've learned over the years to them such as "I am a Child of God," and "I Lived in Heaven." I especially love that no matter where my husband and I have lived, we know that we have friends in our new ward (local church). We currently live across the country from most of our family and have found a lot of love and support from our ward "family."
