Hi I'm Margot

I'm a Mormon. I grew up Catholic, going to mass everyday before school, & on Sunday. I learned reverence & love for Jesus Christ.

About Me

I love family! I am married (been divorced) with a yours, mine and ours family. I have 6 children( 2 daughters and 4 sons) and a loving husband and we have an additional joy in our 5 grandchildren! I grew up an only child of an only child mother and wanted to know more family. When I discovered genealogy -searching for my family history became a great hobby! I went from only knowing who my parents and 2 grandmothers, to having up to 8 generations on some of my mom's family lines and 5 generations on my dad's. I love it! I have always loved learning! Science was my love in college. After having children, I realized how important "how and what they learned" was to me, so I went back to school for a Master's to be an educator. I love to garden, I have lovely beds of day-lilies! I feel I have a wonderful haven in my home and outside my home. I have traveled many places and found my haven to be a heaven on earth.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church when I was in college. In addition, to wanting to know my family, I wanted to know where we were going when we left this life. "Heaven" was pretty undefined and seemed like we put an awful lot of effort here on this earth to just go and be an angel. I searched authors and a few churches. I felt I was missing something of meaning in my life. I needed to know 'Why was I here?' I had been re evaluating my life when I met a missionary on a bus traveling to a new city to teach. He understood what I meant and offered that the missionaries where I lived could visit and share more of what they knew. I allowed it and I was happy to know of the deep belief in Jesus Christ that they had and the teachings from the scriptures which I revered. So I knew all that they taught in the month I had met with them was correct and then the next week that I visited with them, they taught me of what is called the Plan of Salvation. To me it was my answer to my prayer. They taught that we lived with Heavenly Father before we came here, that we were sent here for a purpose, to learn by faith to follow Christ and his teachings. And finally, that we would be able to return to Heavenly Father when we leave here and that we had a purpose in the spirit world with our families to love and teach others and to do the Lord's work. How great is that!!!!! I felt such an overwhelming happiness and joy!! I could not deny it. As I continued to learn and read the scriptures and pray about becoming a member of the church, I felt that same overwhelming joy and happiness! I joined. I have been actively going to church for 36 years, working , learning and growing spiritually side by side my family and other members of the church. It has been a blessing to me and my life and will continue to be through Eternity.

How I live my faith

I live my faith throughout the week as well as on Sunday. I have been offered assignments throughout the years to visit teach. That means I have certain women members that I visit at least once a month to see how they are doing and if they have any special needs that I can help with. I love this assignment because I get to know more people and I come to love them as I serve them. I 've also had opportunities to teach youth and children and adults in Sunday School. Currently I am the church Librarian. I make supplies available to members on Sundays for other teachers. I am also the historian, this part I love, because I keep a record of what the congregation does throughout the year and compile it yearly with pictures and summaries of activities we have had. We have lots of opportunities to serve when people move in to the area and move out, when there are new babies and deaths in families. There is always opportunities to show our love for others. Recently there was a wedding reception, that several of us helped in setting up and taking down when it was over. We helped serve the food, clear tables etc. These opportunities bless my life.
