Hi I'm Gail

I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at the age of 15 and have never regretted that decision.

About Me

I love math and have a degree in Electrical Engineering, even though I have not worked in the field for some time. I now teach sewing seminars in the area, my other passion. For years I helped sew costumes for the local middle and high schools' plays and musicals. I love filling my yard with flowers and trees, sitting by my koi pond, and working in my yard when I can. I exercise almost every day, and enjoy running at one of our local bird sanctuaries. As a family we loved to go camping and backpacking. My husband and I have 2 married children and 2 grandchildren with another on the way.

Why I am a Mormon

My first real encounter with a member of the Church was when I was in Junior High school; a wonderful LDS family moved in down the street and they had a daughter my age. We walked to school together almost every day and she started to share with me the teachings of the Church. I was then invited to go to Sunday services, youth nights and activities, and eventually seminary (an early morning religion class). Right from the start I knew that what I was being taught was true, teachings that I always knew to be true, but did not know why I knew this. I now know it was the Holy Ghost testifying to me the truthfulness of the Gospel. My parents were not very excited for me to be affiliated with the LDS Church and originally told me I would need to wait until I was 18 to join; but once they saw that I truly wanted to be a member and that the teachings were not against anything they had taught me while growing up, they allowed me to join at 15 years of age. I still love being a member of the Church; no, it has not always been easy, but it has been worth it. I try to follow the teaching of both past and present prophets. I feel that it has been a tremendous blessing in my life, giving me focus and knowledge that helps me be a better person.

How I live my faith

I have had many callings (or assignments) in the Church over the years; some more challenging than others, but each one has helped me to grow. I have worked in Public Affairs and organized community service projects with over 1000 people, and I still help out with service projects for our city as a volunteer trail steward. I love teaching the children, especially helping them learn Church songs. I have also worked with the young women by organizing girls' camps and other activities, and am now serving in the Church's women’s organization. I really enjoy having the opportunity to learn new skills and meet new people.
