Hi I'm Tawnya

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 35 year old stay at home mom with four wonderful and ornery kiddos. This is a tough assignment! So I'm borrowing from an "about me" list I made a while back. Enjoy! I think chunky is good--ice cream, cookies, people... I like the fact that my husband draws valuable life lessons from Sponge-Bob episodes. I am grateful when there is one clean room in my house. I love hearing my kids laughing together. I have the best (hands down) siblings and in-laws on earth. I've been cursed with random chin hairs because I was grossed out when I had to pluck my Grandma's. I now find great satisfaction in plucking my chin hairs. It makes me happy when the cows get moved to the field behind our house. I sometimes wave at horses when I pass them. I love living in a small town. I love living behind Grandpa and Grandma even more. Making food that makes people happy makes me happy. I believe there is a right way and a wrong way to put the toilet paper roll on the holder. I think my husband can do anything. My kids are my ultimate cake decorating critics (they think anything I decorate is great!). I can't stand meanness. I've never taken criticism well, but I'm pretty critical of myself. I aspire to be the kind of mother my mom is. I'm glad I have friends who like me the way I am. I believe in family. I live a blessed life, and I'm very grateful for it!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and my testimony grew gradually as I did. I love the gospel. It is so much a part of me. I understand the Jesus Christ is my Savior and Redeemer and that He is my advocate and greatest friend. I love the values that the gospel teaches. Faith, hope and charity, virtue, repentance and forgiveness, service, and that "kindness begins with me." My family is my greatest treasure and because of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, I have been sealed to them for all eternity. What an incredible blessing! I know living the gospel brings peace and joy that cannot be obtained in any other way. I depend on Heavenly Father always and hope I live worthy to always have the Holy Ghost with me to guide and direct me. I love watching my children grow in their testimonies of the gospel. I love to see them read the scriptures and share scripture stories. It makes me happy when they share how the Holy Ghost has helped them. I love that they are trying to be like Jesus. I can't imagine my life without the gospel. It would be very incomplete. I love that we have a living prophet. I love that I learn so much from inspired church leaders. I like that the gospel teaches me to pursue education and promotes lifelong learning and that I understand my knowledge is valuable even if it's never used professionally. I know Jesus Christ lives and loves me. I know that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I know Thomas S. Monson is our prophet today. I love the gospel and am so thankful for how it has shaped my life.

How I live my faith

I hope that I am a good example of my faith. I teach the 12 and 13 year old girls in church. What an adventure! I love the girls I teach but it is not an easy job. Still, they are eager to do what is right and I feel blessed to help them understand gospel teachings. I love serving with the youth in the church. I am also so grateful for the opportunity I have to visit teach three sisters in the ward. I love my companion who visits with me and I love the ladies we visit. What an inspired program! Callings in the church often stretch and challenge me, and although they are sometimes difficult, they always bless my life. I am grateful for how the Lord uses me to serve others. I need that. I am grateful for how I am blessed by other members of the church who fulfill their various callings (especially my children's primary teachers!). The church encourages us to serve in our community as well, and I see that everywhere. I love the gospel!!
