Hi I'm Jourdyn

I'm battling cancer and living my life to the fullest and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I am a daughter, an older sister, a grandaughter, niece a friend and a FIGHTER. I was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 14. I have been fighting this battle for almost 9 years. I have learned though that it has become more of a blessing than a burden. I have realized over the last 9 years that each day is a gift and that becasue of the knowlege of a loving Heavenly Father I know where I am going and who I am. I never thought that I would be able to serve a mission but here I am. It took me a year and a half to receive my mission call but I am now a full time representative of the Lord. I love being able to stand as a witness of the truth that has been restored in its fullness to the Earth. The church means everything to me and the Lord means everything to me and this is why I serve! When I was at home I like spending time with my family, taking walks, and watching old movies and musicals with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and raised in the church, my conversion is much deeper than just being born into the church. I have seen through my trials that my faith in the church is what keeps me going. I have had my own test of faith just as many others do as well. My reason for continuing to follow in the Savior's path is that I have seen too many miracles in my life to deny the truthfulness of the church. I have seen first hand the blessings that flow from living the teachings of the true church. I know that whatever our trials may be, that the Savior is real and that he understands everything we feel. I know that He is not an absent in my life. I know that as I follow in His ways that I will become more like Him. I know that the words of the prophets are recorded in the scriptures, whether it be the Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants or The Pearl of Great Price. I feel the power of the words that are in them and how they all work together to testify of the divinity and life of the Savior. I know that these are not the only revelations that we have to look to. We have a modern day prophet, even President Thomas S. Monson who leads and guides the church through the Savior himself. I am grateful to have been extended a call to serve from him. I love the Gospel and I know that it is the only way to true happiness.

How I live my faith

I have been able to use my cancer as a building block rather than something that breaks me down. Before my mission I had the privilege of speaking to the youth of the church about my experiences with my cancer and how it has helped me grow closer to my Savior. I have been able to share with other women in my community about the ups and downs of living with cancer. I have been a volunteer with the Look Good Feel better Program, for women with cancer, as well as setting up adn helping coordinate events for Cancer like Relay for life, Laps for Leukemia and being a mentor at Primary Children's Medical Center. As I go and help with these events I am able to help others see that it is only through my faith that I am able to still be here and continue to testify of the blessings that come when we follow the Savior. I lived my faith as I served as a missionary in the Missouri Independence Mission. I continue to live my faith as I share about the wonderful experiences of my mission. Our faith should be something we live, not jsut something that we believe!
