Hi I'm Cherie Burton

I LOVE being a Grandma, there isn't a much greater calling in life. I enjoy cooking for my family, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up on a farm in Paris, Idaho. I have 6 siblings, 3 brothers, 3 sisters. I loved growing up on a farm, it taught me the value of work and the value of growing a garden, canning what you grew, and making do, or doing without. I love home making and cooking/baking in general. I have been married for 26 years, I have 6 children, 5 living. My family is my most prized possession. Our motto in our home is"We might not have it all together, but together we have it all. I have had many trials in my life, some due from poor choices and yet others just because life happens. But through my trials I have come to know my Father in Heavens love for me. I enjoy being with my family and enjoying all the different personalities. I LOVE being a grandma, it's literally the icing on the cake. I love being a Mormon and All the bounteous blessings that come with it.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a very active Mormon family, that dates back a long ways. My father served in several leadership positions in the church, one that was my favorite was, sunday school president, in the 1970's he always had meetings in Salt Lake City, Utah. When ever he had to go he would take one child at a time to go with him. I remember very vividly the time I got to go with him, I remember the"sparkly"sidewalks (granite) & feeling very special to him. We would always go and get Trolley Square Taffy, and then spend hours upon hours on Temple Square. I love being a member of the church because I love the Book of Mormon, this is the only book that when you are done reading, you can actually pray about it's truthfulness, you Will receive a confirmation that what you just read IS true, as long as you go into with an open mind and sincere intent. I love the Bible and the teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ, He was no ordinary man, he is my older brother who gave me the greatest gift of all, The Atonement, he suffered and died for me so I could get the opportunity to be reunited with my baby that died when he was 3 1/2 months old. I know with every being of my soul that this is true. My family can be together forever, if I continually choice the right and live my life the way my Savior Jesus Christ would want me to live it.

How I live my faith

I love being my brother/sisters keeper. I love being a visiting teacher. After my infant son died I was called to be the Ward Relief Society President, at the time I was very confused on why I was to be issued this calling, since I was still having a really hard time. Little did I know and understand the true concept and principle of service. Only through serving others can you really feel and understand the love Jesus has for us. Through this calling my mind and heart was filled with the pure love of Christ, which is Charity. It made me forget about my sadness and help others, my burden was lifted because I was in the service of sisters that I truely loved and still love this day. My testimony grew leaps and bounds. So whenever I am feeling down, all I need to do is help others, and in return I am helped/blessed 100 fold.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

Cherie Burton
Family is so important to me because, I lost a son to S.I.D.S., several years ago. It was to date one of the hardest things I have had to endure, yet with my faith in God and in the Plan of Salvation, I KNOW i will be able to be with him again and get the opportunity to raise him again in the next life. I know this is true for I have had personal witnesses to me through the Holy Ghost, that this is true. Show more Show less
