Hi I'm Martin

I'm a student, creative artist, and a real person. I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm pursuing a BA in International Cultural Studies with an emphasis in communication. My Italian-American upbringing, Spanish-speaking missionary service, and study abroad in Jerusalem, have given me a love and understanding for peoples of the world. In my family, I learned about my grandparents’ hardships as they transitioned into American life from both Italy and England. I appreciate all cultures and value their unique customs and traditions. Jerusalem is described as the “heart of the world,” and is where I discovered my passion to work internationally. Currently, I assist international students learning English at an intensive English learning school. I also enjoy drawing, painting, cooking, laughing, and exploring the world.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I’m a witness to its truthfulness. God is in this Church. His people are in this church and His work is going forth. Although I have never seen God, I have seen His hands working miracles in my life daily. Heavenly Father is my God and my creator. He loves me. He hears the pleadings of my heart and answers the questions of my soul. I know God has a personal plan for me. I know He trusts me to be active in this plan, to make choices and to seek my desires. He knows what it is best for me, and he wants me to come to know him. I have experienced the miracle of forgiveness through the atonement of Jesus Christ. Christ knows me and my soul. My walls, doubts, fears, sins, and weaknesses are continually before him. He is merciful and patient. He understands and empathizes with me. I know Christ lives. I feel his presence often. I have felt his warm embrace through friends and church leaders. I have felt his power as hands have been placed on my head to give me a blessing. I have seen the change in others who have come to know him. I have heard the prayers of his disciples, and felt the power of his love for them. I know Christ is the only way back to my Father in Heaven and my only hope to endure this mortality. I have come to know these things, through the power of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost or Spirit brings me peace, when I read from the scriptures and when I pray to my Father above. As I act upon these impressions I see miracles. I feel and see the spirit’s power when I listen to Christ’s servants on the Earth today. Thomas S. Monson is a prophet, called and ordained of God. The apostles of the Lord Jesus Christ are true and special witnesses of Jesus Christ. I have felt their ministry and seen the miracles they perform today. I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I look forward to His return.

How I live my faith

One day at time. Faith is a continual process. I have faith in God, so I pray. I have faith in Jesus Christ, so I repent. Faith moves me to act, to hope, and to be better. Everything I do is in someway related to my faith. Whether I'm studying for school, going to work, or being with friends, my character is shaped by my faith. I participate in worship services at church with my local congregation weekly. I teach Sunday school lessons, plan activities, and visit other members of my church. I pay tithes. I fast two meals a month and donate the money I would have spent on those meals to the needy. I strive to obey the ten commandments and live a chaste life. I spend time with my family and friends.
