Hi I'm Makeli

I'm from Ohio. Happily married with four children. Anaheim is our home away from home. :)

About Me

I grew up in Medina, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. I left Ohio in 1998 to serve a church mission in Mexico City for two years. I loved the culture, food, and and getting to know great people in a crazy city like D.F. After the mission, I moved to Las Vegas, NV with my family. I worked for five years as a singing gondolier at the Venetian Hotel on the Strip. I had met my wife, Annie, years before we started dating at institute, a weekly scripture study class. She ended up leaving on a church mission for 18 months to the Dominican Republic. While she was there, I became best friends with her brother, Cameron. He and I began to play music in both spiritual and fun settings. Our spiritual albums are on iTunes under "Cameron Steele". When she got back, it hit me like a ton of bricks that I needed to ask her to marry me. I'm so glad she said yes, our life since has been blessed with three cute kids. Cameron and I ended up going into business together. We started an insurance agency which has been a blessing of a career for both of our families. Lately, I've taken up running. My favorite event is Ragnar.

Why I am a Mormon

As I was preparing myself to leave on my church mission, I was challenged to read the Book of Mormon and pray to know if it was true. I had already read it before in Seminary in high school but never as intently as I did this time. I knew that as a missionary, it would be important to have a personal testimony of the things I would be teaching to people not of our faith. Every day I would read a few chapters, then kneel down and pray to ask for personal revelation. I noticed that as time went on, my testimony of the divinity of Jesus Christ and the knowledge that my Heavenly Father loves me became strong and very real. It didn't take me getting to the end of the book to gain a strong testimony that it is in fact the word of God and another Testament of Jesus Christ. Any person that believes that Jesus Christ is our Savior and Redeemer needs to thoughtfully read and ponder what the Book of Mormon has to offer. Since that time, I have read the Book of Mormon, as well as the Bible, many times and am reminded of our Heavenly Father's love that He sent His only Begotten Son, to make a way possible to return to His presence. I have also come to know through prayer that He has called prophets in our day to lead and guide us just as He called Moses, Abraham, and Isaiah. I'm grateful that He called the boy prophet, Joseph Smith, to restore the Church of Jesus Christ, as it had been when Jesus walked the earth and called his apostles.

How I live my faith

My family attends church services each Sunday. My wife plays the piano for the little kids in Primary and I work in the Young Men's organization.
