Hi I'm Maria

I'm a wife, a mom, a photographer and I'm a Mormon

About Me

Hi, my name is Maria. I have 4 wonderful kids with my oldest being special needs. She has spina bifida. It's something that we deal with everyday and it's part of our lives. Our family wouldn't complete without our oldest daughter. I'm also a part-time professional photographer. I went to college to learn that and have my own side business. I work at a dude ranch during the summer taking family photos and really enjoy that. In fact, my kids and hubbie get tired of the camera by the time fall comes around. In my little spare time I enjoy running, playing the piano and typing in my journal. But my favorite is spending time with my husband and all the kids doing things together. We live in a small town in the mountains and play hard during the summer. Boating, hiking, swimming, campfires are some of our favorites. Our winters get easily to -30 degrees below so we live up our short summers while we can.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the church. I grew up doing what i was asked and told I should do. When I got older, I didn't see any reason why I should do anything different. I had no desire to become a drunk, a druggie, dishonest, etc. etc. I am following guidelines (a.k.a. Word of Wisdome) that have been in place in the church sinces the 1800's that doctors are now telling us is the way we should live. The only difference is that we had prophets telling us years ago!! How amazing is that? I know this church is the only true church on the face of the earth. I know that President Thomas S. Monson is a true and living prophet today. I know the Book of Mormon to be a true scripture. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet that helped restore the church in the Latter days. It is a scary world out there and I want to teach my children to be strong and unmoveable while the evil is going on all around them. That's why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

In our family we do the little things. We try, but are not perfect at: saying family prayer each night, attending church each week, having a night set aside just for our family to learn about the gospel, and reading scriptures daily as a family. They sound small, but we are told that if we do the small things, we will stay strong in the gospel and our families will stay strong. Our children will learn right from wrong. That's the whole reason we are on this earth. To raise a family and raise them so that they will return to live with our father in heaven. It's a lot pressure, but a lot of purpose.
