Hi I'm John

I'm a son, a brother (to 6 siblings), a husband, a father (of 3+ children... and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love playing volleyball, soccer and ultimate frisbee. I went to four different colleges in three different states... a great educational experience, but not so efficient if you want to graduate quickly. I love getting to know people.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it brings happiness to my life and those around me. While I was raised in the LDS church, I have determined from examining my own experiences that I am much happier when I choose to live by the Gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to be kind and considerate to all I meet. Whether at my children's sporting events or at work, giving people the benefit of the doubt, or simply taking some time to talk with them to get to know what is important to them and what they value. As a general rule, people are kind and honest... and the more of them I know, the richer my life becomes. In the more formal church setting, I've had the privilege of teaching young children (3-12 years old), working extensively with the teenage boys (12-18) and quite a bit with the adult men (mostly 18-50). More recently, I've been able to work with the teenage girls (12-18). Honestly, I have to say that while each opportunity to serve in the LDS church has its challenges... I've really enjoyed them all. I also had the privilege of being a "full-time" missionary for the LDS church for two years in Uruguay. The people I met there, including those that don't share my faith, were WONDERFUL. I count this time among my favorite in life. Living among the people and getting to really know them and their families was amazing. Hopefully my service there was useful to them, but I am sure that I gained much more from them than they did from me.
