Hi I'm Mark.

I grew up in Wyoming. I have a wife of 30 years, four grown children and am an outdoor enthusiast.

About Me

My wife and I have been married for 30 years. We have raised four children. Our joy these days is in our grandchildren and the time that we spend with them on a Sunday afternoon in the park in the summer. I work for a construction and engineering company and a Senior Project Engineer. I spend long hours at work. Each day starts at 7:30 AM and finishes at 6 PM. There is a bit of time for lunch but usually I am pretty busy and time goes quickly. I am grateful for work. It is what keeps me going. I am a fly fisherman. I can spend all day fishing on the water. It is my time that I have to myself. And when I come home from a long day out I have forgotten the many cares of the world and am grateful for the world that our Lord has given us to enjoy.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was a young boy I often thought about God. Somewhere I knew that there was a God who knew me and loved me. As a young man I was a bit wild but always remembered that there was something more to life and I always want to believe that I knew that I would find it. After I graduated from high school I spent the summer working away from my family. I lived with a Mormon family and watched the way that they lived and loved. I wanted that in my own family and knew that I would have to mend my ways a bit in order to enjoy the love that surrounded this fine home. When I left their home and headed back to college that first year I took something with me that was so important. I took with me prayer. In that home I had learned to pray. From that day onward I have prayed every day. It was years later when I read the Book of Mormon for the first time that I first understood and felt the love of the Savior in my life in a way that lead me to join with the Mormon faith. Then on my own and in my time I sought out membership in the Mormon church. I remember that it was on that day that I finally felt free.

How I live my faith

I live my faith daily. I wake up in the morning a pray with my wife. We pray for our children. We pray for our family and our neighbors. Though we don't have many enemies there have been a few special individuals who have made our live different and we have learned to pray for them. I like to work hard. In hard work I find joy. Over the years I have had a number of different responsibilities in my life and the opportunity to serve others. Perhaps the best opportunity I have had is to be a Scoutmaster. I have felt the love of the service to others in this role and have enjoyed almost every moment. Even today I am working with the 11 year old boys and helping them with their rank advancement. It is a wonderful thing to serve.

Are Mormons Christians?

I believe in Jesus Christ and accept him as my personal savior. I often think of the many things of the world and how we busily pursue them looking for this new thing or that great experience. After a few years on this ole earth I realize that all of this is temporary. There is nothing that we have that we cannot lose. The only true hope we have is in Jesus Christ and that we will one day be resurected and stand before him.
