Hi I'm Jared

I grew up in the USA. I'm a husband, a pianist, and a Student. I'm a Communications Major. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My family moved around a little while my father was attending different colleges. But, for most of my life, I've lived here in Washington State. I enjoy many activities, some of which include: dancing with my wife, playing the piano, working with computers, visiting family, and trap shooting.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon beacause of a couple of reasons. The first of which is because of many anwered prayers from my Heavenly Father. He has always been there for me; through the good and the bad. He has provided for me, and stood by my side. Another reason for being a Mormon is because of the teachings of the church. They taught me about families and how they can be forever. They taught me about forgiveness, and love. I was taught about the sacrifice that Christ made for me. I've been taught how to live in a Christ-Like manner.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending Church. I read the scriptures, and pray for giving thanks for my life and receiving guidance. I participate as a "home teacher". I go to the homes of other members, inactive or active, and share a message of hope and love. I participate in the temple located in Seattle. The temple is where I am able to worship God and to serve him in more capacities. It is a place where we help those who have passed on. I live my faith by trying to be Christ-like in my job. I work at a grocery store and try to be sincere to those around me, and to treat them kindly. Sometimes during church I help my wife as she teaches lessons to some of the younger children. I have found a lot of fun and happiness when I help her. I live my faith by playing the piano for the congregation when they need a substitute. I attend Sunday classes, and I served as a boy scout and cub scout leader at different times. I live my faith by trying to be as kind and gentle as Jesus would have me be.

What do Mormons believe about the Bible? Do they regard it as Holy Scripture and the word of God?

Mormons believe that the Bible is the word of God as far as it is translated correctly. After Christ was crucified, many people went after the Apostles and sought to take away their life. Eventually all of the Apostles from Peter's time were killed. Because the Apostles were killed they were no longer able to maintain the Bible and the records that they kept. Through this and the passage of time, the Bible and some of its precious doctrines and practices became corrupted and changed. After a time people began to notice differences in what God taught and what people were practicing. They began to seek the truth that was lost from the mainstream churches of the day. Though their efforts there was an increased desire for spiritual and religious freedom. These people and their actions led to what we call the Restoration of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Through this restoration, the teachings and practices of the ancient church that Christ established was brought back. We believe that they Bible and the Book of Mormon go hand-in-hand. They both help validate what the other book says. They both testify of Christ and His divinity. Show more Show less
