Hi I'm DJ

I love being a Mormon!

About Me

More than anything I am a husband and a father. I love spending time with my 3 boys and my wife. I enjoy debating politics, arguing about football and I love going to the movies. There is nothing better than spending time outdoors. From the Beach to the Mountains, I wouldn't want to be anywhere else! I am excited about life!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the Plan of Happiness inspires me to choose the right and to keep moving forward when times are tough. I know where we lived before this life, why I am here on Earth, and where I can go after death because of the Plan of Happiness. When I was 19 I started to truly contemplate if this Gospel was true. I had grown up in the LDS religion but I hadn't gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the Gospel in its entirety. I had multiple spiritual experiences growing up in Scouts and other church activities but I didn't have the courage or resolve to fully commit myself to the Gospel. As I dedicated myself to studying the scriptures, praying and living the standards of the church I began to feel peace and love. Little by little the spirit changed my heart and my priorities changed as well. I decided to serve a mission for my church and prepared to do so. The point of doctrine that meant the most to me was the Plan of Happiness. I knew that God was all powerful and perfect. It just made sense to me that he would prepare a perfect plan for us to come to earth and to learn to be like him so we can return to live with him forever. We are supposed to be here and there is a divine purpose for our existence. There is hope in knowing this. There is a quiet confidence in knowing that my Heavenly Father created a plan for me to help me find true happiness. This knowledge brought new meaning to my life and I couldn't deny it. It has changed me forever and I try living my life daily to deserve it. I know that this all possible only through the Grace and Power of Jesus Christ. He is my savior and my redeemer. I love and adore him. I have felt him pick me up during tough trials and I have felt him take pain away from my soul. This is his plan and this is His Church. I want to try to live my life like him.

How I live my faith

Living the gospel is a daily affair. I am most happy when I read the scriptures daily and have meaningful prayer both morning and night. Our family prays together daily as well. We do our best to spend meaningful time together every Monday night. We sing together. We pray together. We even give a spiritual lesson. This is our Family Home Evening time. As you would imagine it is hectic and exciting with a young family and it is always worth it. There is nothing more gratifying that serving the Lord in His church. I always have the opportunity to serve in different capacities. This allows me to stretch and grow. I currently serve with the men in the ward from ages 19 to around 40 years old. I help organize the lessons taught in our Sunday Priesthood Services. I also help organize and execute service projects in our congregation and the surrounding community. It is important for us to help those in need. This entails organizing monthly visits to all of the members of our congregation to ensure that all of their needs are being met. Some of my fondest experiences in serving in the Church are working with the youth organizations. I have found no greater joy than helping a boy become a Young Man by teaching them integrity, obedience to God and how to accomplish goals. I have been able to experience their conversion stories as they have grown in the Gospel and made decisions to serve missions and follow the commandments. There have been times when these boys decided to stray away. Still, we never stopped doing our best to express love and share our testimonies so they always know that they can return. I definitely love serving in the Church!
