Hi I'm Rich Atkin

I live in Kansas City with my sweet wife and 4 young children. I work as a Physical Therapist. I tell people that I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived many different places in the USA, all of which offered opportunities to meet new people. But my favorite place to live was the West Indies, specifically Trinidad. I was a missionary there for two years and had wonderful experiences that have changed my life forever. The challenge of missionary work- to forget yourself and help others, is what I feel every person needs to experience in their lifetime; the more often the better. I am now living in the midwest and have been married for 14 years with four beautiful kids, a Doctorate degree in Physical therapy, and I serve in the church as a bishopric member. I work with the scouting program and look forward to the camp-outs and many activities that help shape and mold young men into good family men. Nothing is as important as a strong and loving family for our society and the happiness that we all want to have.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons but the best reason I feel is that I learn of Jesus Christ and His true doctrine in His true church. The Holy Ghost helps me to know this is true by the promptings and good feelings that I get when I serve in the church or read the scriptures. When God answers my prayers and helps me with all my activities- raising my children, building a strong marriage, work, etc it is the most peaceful and reassuring feeling I have ever felt. The influence of the Holy Ghost in my mind and heart helping me to know more about Christ and His church is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I make daily choices to follow the Savior at work or when I am at home. It is the small choices like being honest at all times or not yelling or speaking unkind words to my family or others. I choose each day to try and do Gods will instead of personal interests. I would love to golf all day but that does not strengthen my marriage or help the house (or kids) get cleaned up. Knowing that God has a plan for me to fulfill, to help other people in my church service, to be the best dad and husband I can guides my desires and thus my actions. I love assisting the scouting program and young men/young women activities each week. I love spending time with my kids over any ball game on TV. My wife and kids never have to compete for my time with the TV or any other sport. My family is more important than any entertainment. This is displayed how I choose to spend my time daily, how I choose to live my faith.
