Hi I'm Doni

I am a mother, wife, business owner, and student. Family is the most important part of who I am...and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mom first to two wonderfully, handsome little boys who are autistic. They are my joy, my love, and all that is my life. This amazing task that I have been given is shared with my best friend and husband. Next to my children he is the best part of what I include as me. Family is first and the road we take together as we press forward in the Gospel is one that I am cherishing more and more every day. I live my life one-day-at-a-time, but cherish each of those days just as much as the last. Although I love these children I also cannot fool myself into believing that this task that the Lord has given me is easy...in fact it has been some of the most difficult work of my life; however, as the saying goes: 'Anything worth having is worth working for.' And my sons are definitely worth every ounce of effort that we have put into guiding them along their way in this world; the blessings and joy we receive for every triumphant task that they complete has brought the greatest happiness to my life. There are times when I ask God, "I don't know what it was that I did SO right to have been given parentage of these precious spirits, but if I had the chance to go back in time and change anything...I wouldn't."

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the LDS church, but have always maintained a firm belief and knowledge of the validity of the Gospel. I believe in God the Eternal Father, in his son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. I believe that the Holy Ghost acts as a messenger of truth as directed by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ, prompting us all to make right choices and confirm the truth of the Gospel to us. The Holy Ghost has personally professed the truth in me that that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that he was chosen to bring the Gospel of Christ back to the Earth in order to prepare us for this last of dispensations. It is my testimony that our lives were foreordained in the preexistence with which we all shared. That testimony is reaffirmed not only by the Holy Ghost, but by the sons who have been born unto me. I was lead by the Holy Ghost in the choices I made in my life before I had an earthly knowledge of who my sons would be. These choices occurred in the commission of my works of service, my school years, and even predicated what my professional desires would be. My sons are amazing, chosen, and the best blessings that Heavenly Father has ever bestowed upon me…and they just so happen to be autistic. In my youth I desired to work with children with special needs, in so much, that I wanted to be a Special Education Teacher. I believe that these desires were promptings by the Holy Ghost to help me to prepare for my true life’s work as a mother. My sons along with the support of my loving husband, who has given me such a great family and life, give me knowledge that I can and will have a fulfilling existence in this life as well as the next. With the Gospel of Jesus Christ I know that I can attain the eternal blessings of everlasting life through the plans that were made for me by our Heavenly Father, so long as I keep my promises in this life time.

How I live my faith

I live my life in the service of community that best that I can, whether it is making donations of my time or through the act of visiting others when I am able. It is my goal as my sons grow and become more independent from me that I will be able to do more for my fellow man, but I see my sons as my first and most precious work at this time.
