Hi I'm Alex

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy being spending time with my sweetheart and four kids watching & playing basketball and football, camping, hiking, and exploring the Colorado rocky mountains.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a third-generation Mormon, it all starting with a couple of missionaries in North Carolina teaching my grandparents of the Restoration of the Gospel many years ago. As is the case with every member of the Church, there came a time when I felt I could no longer ride on the coattails of the strong faith and heritage of my family - I had to know independent of anyone else if Joseph Smith was called of God to bring about the Restoration of the original Church of Christ. That prayer I offered literally changed the entire direction of my life. There have been other spiritual experiences I feel were gifts from God further re-enforcing my belief in Him, in His Son, and the purpose of life.

How I live my faith

I love reading the scriptures with my family and having family prayer. Not only is that an opportunity to learn of Christ and his teachings, but its also chance for my wife and I to talk about the important things in life with our children. We encourage them to ask questions, look for their own answers, and be willing to allow the Spirit to teach them. For most of my adult life, I have worked with the young men of the Church. They have so many challenges to face at such young ages; I am constantly amazed by their courage and faith in the Savior and just how smart and good they really are. I thoroughly enjoy spending time with them on camp outs and youth conferences and doing high adventure activities like 40-mile backpacking trips, climbing/rappelling, and intense ropes courses. I probably have more fun on these activities than they do!
