Hi I'm Thad Penrod

I'm a Mormon. I grew up in Pleasant View, Utah. I now live in Springville, Utah. I have a wife and 2 sons.

About Me

My career has been in the medical device manufacturing industry in the area of manufacturing blood test kits called immunoassays. I enjoy playing and watching sports with my family. Our favorite sport is football but we also follow basketball, baseball, golf, and tennis. My oldest son devolped his talents in singing and acting. I love to watch him perform on stage. His younger brother is following in his footsteps. I watched and will watch every one of their performances when at all possible. With their performances and interest in muscial theater it has helped me become a big fan. Watching them work at their craft has helped me appreciate a great performance on stage. We see several shows a year. I love to fish, backpack, and explore. For me the best trip is to backpack into a high mountain lake or river and fish for trout. I also love exploring the canyons and red rock in the Southern Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon Church. Now that I am a father and a husband I understand more than ever the importance of being an honorable man and trying to help my sons grow up to be the same. The church is such a big help for that. We try to help each become better people. It is not an easy thing to believe the things we do. I believe in a Heavenly Father who knows me as a person and loves me more than I can understand. I believe that the Gospel as taught in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His way for me to improve myself as a person, repent of my sins, and grow in faith. I understand and fully believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and suffered and died for our sins. Because of this, it has allowed us the opportunity to live with Heavenly Father as glorified beings as He is. The key is that we must have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. I beileve that God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph Smith. I beilive that Josephs Smith translated the Book of Mormon and I believe in the BooK of Mormon. I believe that there is a prophet now and apostle who hear the word of the Lord and let us know His will. There are local church leaders who try so hard to do the right thing and are inspired to call us to serve in His chuch. I believe that through the Holy Ghost, I can know what I should do to serve othes. I hope that my testimony increases and I pray every day that it does.

How I live my faith

My calling in the church is assistant Priests adviser. My Bishop instructed me that this is not a leadership position but an advisory position. I advise the priests and young men on how to become honorable men and fathers. I am also a home teacher. Being a home teacher is a challenge and a blessing. Meeting with the same two families each month and discussing Gospel matters is a wonderful way to develop friendships in the Church. I try to follow the Gospel teachings in my life every day. There are lots of areas that I need and want to improve on, and I see that trying to do this is a good thing.
