Hi I'm Mike

I'm a husband, a father, an outdoor enthusiast, a Texan, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy camping and boating with my wife and love spending time with friends and family on nearby lakes. We also enjoy watching movies. I am currently working on my masters degree.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife was a member of the church when we married. I never had much interest in organized religion until our daughter was born. She contracted a potentailly deadly virus during delivery. My wife's family recommended that she receive a priesthood blessing, and we agreed. My daughter had a miraculous recovery shortly after receiving the blessing. After spending some time with the missionaries and asking a lot of questions, I joined the church and have continually seen blessings in my life and the lives of others.

How I live my faith

I get to work with the teenagers of our ward in our youth program. I really enjoy helping them and being their friend. I think that I learn as much form them as they do from me. I also have a network of church members that are good friends. It's good to be able to spend time with people that are fun and share the same values.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

I remember asking myself many times as a younger man if God existed. I remember very distinctly the day that I knew for sure. It was the day that I looked into the eyes of our first newly-born child. At that point, I took a good look at the world that we lived in and knew with certainty that the wonderful things that we sometinmes take for granted had to have been created by a great power. So now when I marvel at beautiful scenerary or wonder at the diversity of plants and animals, I know that it was all created as a result of the love that God has for us. Show more Show less
