Hi I'm Darwin

I grew up in California and finished high school in New Mexico. I married a wonderful woman and work in real estate. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a full time college student and also work full time training to be a real estate appraiser. My wife and I have been married since 2007 and are looking to adopt in the next couple years. I am the youngest child from a family of eleven with three girls and eight boys (including me). I am studying Business Administration but I am also trying to figure out what I am going to be when I grow up. I enjoy all kinds of sports and anything that involves working with my hands.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the church and I have grown up with their beliefs. However there came a time in my life when I had to ask myself if what they believed in and what I have been taught are true; weather I believe or not. I have always believed in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and that wasn't a question of belief for me. The true question I had to answer for myself despite what anyone else has believed in or told me was if the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the true church. That was what I wanted to know for myself. So I put myself to reading and studying the Book of Mormon, because as we claim that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God and that he was given the Book of Mormon and directed to translate it and that he could of only translated it by the power and will of God, that is the first step to finding out if the Church is true or not. So I studied, read and prayed about it, because only God could respond to my prayers; no mortal could give me that answer. My answer didn't come at first, I had to truly prove to Heaven that I wanted to know and that required me to be living the commandments. So as I continued to show my desire to know and as I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know if the Book is true and if Joseph Smith was a true prophet eventually there came a peace and a feeling of assurance into my life. And the more I continued to live righteously the stronger the feeling became and I know for myself that the only person that could put those feelings in my heart and bring peace to my mind was my Father in Heaven. I have been able to feel the Holy Spirit reaffirm the truth of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to me over and over again as I have shared what I know with others and as I continue to keep the commandments. I know that God loves us, His children and that he has given us all the help that the ancient prophets and apostles had through the prophet Joseph Smith and that our current prophet has been called of God.

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by following the great and perfect example of my Savior, Jesus Christ in all that I do. I know I have a very long way to go but I try and serve others by serving in my ward (local congregation) as the secretary in the Elders Quorum (the Elders Quorum is the group of men within the ward that meets together and consists of ages of approximately 18 and up). I have also served with the youth in previous wards that I lived in and that was a really enjoyable thing to do. I was also raised by my parent to be aware of my surroundings and to look out for those who many need a helping hand and so I try and lend a hand whenever possible.
