Hi I'm Rachael

I am a stay-at-home mom to one spunky little girl, wife to a pharmacy student, owner of a crazy dog, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Walking is my preferred type of exercise; I've never been too great at running. A spoonful of peanut butter is one of my favorite snacks. Yep, right out of the container. I am not a fad follower. I still own a flip-phone and it works great! Only a LARGE amount of bribery could get me to watch a sci-fi movie. Road tripping is the best way to travel, but I LOVE flying. I think I love the airport more; so many people and things to see. I like cats. My cat growing up wasn't dirty or nasty or mean. I like dogs equally as much as cats. My dog is VERY unique. Picture a terrier with a basset hound body and voila! Morning is my most productive time. I loathe scrap booking, but love taking and keeping pictures. The empty space on my photo album shelf is quickly diminishing. Being a mom is overwhelming, inspiring, and wonderful. I love to express my artistic side through decorating cakes and creating spaces in my home. I am a perfectionist, and not in the loose sense of the word. My closet is color and seasonally coded (it's much quicker to find things that way), and my fridge is organized into categories. I prefer to do something new or go somewhere different when traveling or eating out. "Chain" restaurants are not my thing. I like to take the corner piece of cake to get the most frosting! My freckles and fair skin that once "imprisoned" me (adolescent years) now define me and I embrace them fully.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents raised me in the LDS faith. I have never wanted to venture or stray. When I think of the hard times that I have experienced, I realize that it is my faith and this gospel that have pushed me through. No matter what the trial or the victory, Heavenly Father has a hand in it. I cherish the knowledge that I am a child of God and that he knows and loves me individually. There is a plan for each of us. So personal that only WE can fulfill it with His help. I know that I have a purpose here on earth and that life extends beyond our physical death. I love my Savior who died for US that we might repent of our wrong-doings and work towards our goal of eternal life. I am a Mormon because it is the only true church and the only thing that brings true happiness.

How I live my faith

The way I strive to live my faith is by working on my Christlike qualities. We are to emulate the Savior and his teachings. When I go out in public, I try to be courteous, kind, and helpful to those around me. When I am at home, I try to show my family that I love them by serving them. Each day I strive to read my scriptures and pray to my Heavenly Father to give thanks and ask for guidance. On Wednesdays and Sundays I am involved with the Young Women's organization as the secretary. Living my faith is not just something I do on Sunday, or on a convenient day. Living my faith is something I am striving to do EVERY day.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Mormons live their lives in accordance with standards that we uphold. Things such as the word of wisdom, law of chastity, and the commandments keep us safe by avoiding harmful addictions to drugs, alcohol, tobacco or any other substance that the body becomes dependent on, unlawful relationships (sex before/outside of marriage) and good moral characteristics such as not stealing, killing, loving our neighbors, honoring, upholding and sustaining (local and national) laws, etc. Being obedient to these laws brings freedom to enjoy all of the gifts that Heavenly Father has given us here on earth. We are free to enjoy life without limitations caused from poor decisions that bring heartache and suffering to us and those we love. Show more Show less
