Hi I'm Anthony Jeffers

I'm a Mormon. I am a professional firefighter, a husband, and the father of 9 children.

About Me

I have worked for 30 years as a professional firefighter. I have been a member of the Church for 35 years. i have been married to Linda my wife for 29 years. I spend most of my time working, I like to be anxiously engaged in a good cause. There is no situation I have come across that can not be made better when a few good people set their minds and their backs to it. My grandfather was a simple honest hard working man, as is my father. My mother is a tremendous organizer. They bestowed upon me the ability to evaluate a situation, sum up what needs to be done, and the enthusiasm to see it through to completion. My hope is that my children will carry on the family tradition of meaningful, honest, hard work.

Why I am a Mormon

I was not looking for a religion when I was approached about the gospel. I was happy as a Catholic. I was serving in the Navy and as an electronic technician and was assigned to install an antenna on a ship that was undergoing repairs. The welder who was installing the antenna stand started asking me about my religion. I told him I was not interested in a discussion about religion, and if he would install the antenna stand I could install the antenna and we would both be on our way. He persisted with questions like have you ever read the Bible cover to cover. I had not. As I began to read the Bible there were Catholic practices and beliefs that I no longer agreed with as they were not consistent with what I had read in the Bible. It was difficult because my mother and father have always been to me the perfect example of Christian living. I started my search for what I truly knew what was Gods will in the form of an organized religion. I heard the Joseph Smith story and knew then as I do now that this simple story is true. God is our Heavenly Father who loves us. He sent his Beloved Son Jesus Christ as his Advocate in our behalf. They spoke with this young boy in answer to his humble prayer where he asked "Which Church should I join?" Though he was ridiculed, mistreated, insulted, misrepresented, He knew he had received an answer to his prayer. Well so did I. I find great happiness in following the teachings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I love my wife Linda with all my heart. I work to support my family both physically and spiritually. I try to always be part of the solution instead of part of the problem. I try to be a good student of the scriptures, and a good follower of Gospel principles, enabling me to be a good leader at home, at Church, and at work. I try to do what the Savior would do if He were dealing with whatever I am dealing with. Then when I fall short, as I so often do, I dust myself off, repent of my foolishness or selfishness, and give it another try. And somewhere in all of my efforts I feel His great love for me.
