Hi I'm Dottie

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife, mother of 4, and grandmother of 14. I love helping my children and spending time with my grandchildren. I enjoy helping others and serving in the church however I can. I have owned a business with my husband, and then we lost that business. But we did not lose our faith, our family or our home...the most important things. I have worked a lot with children, most recently as an autism habilitator. I love to relax in the mountains or on the beach. I enjoy swimming, baking, movies and reading books.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of this church since I was 8 years old. I don't ever remember not having a testimony of God and Jesus Christ. I have never been tempted to leave the church and it's teachings. Never-the-less, I have studied the doctrine and read the scriptures and prayed to know of their truths. I have a firm belief and I would even say knowledge, that this is the church on the earth today with the fulness of the gospel. I have had too many experiences to deny the reality of God and heaven. When our oldest son died 4 years ago at the age of 33, leaving behind a wife and 3 young boys, many were amazed at our ability to accept this. He was diagnosed with cancer and died 4 months later. My mother died 4 months after him. Some months after that my sister was hit and thrown over a car, as a pedestrian. She is a walking miracle today. These and many other experiences have caused me to feel God does exist and take care of us, if we will allow Him into our lives. He has taken care of me and my family and I can't imagine it any other way. I don't feel abandoned when things are hard. I don't feel alone when I am scared. I do feel hope, and I trust that he is there. Even now as I face serious health issues and a treatment plan. His plan for me will prevail.

How I live my faith

I have always enjoyed being involved in any aspect of my children's lives. This started while they were young and I was P.T.O. president at their school. I also became involved with the Cub Scouts and served in many ways including director for the council day camp for about 150 boys. Another time as assistant day camp director for 300 boys. For the past 30 years, I've also been involved with the boy scouts and their activities and continue to serve on the committee. My daughters were active in Brownies and then the girls youth program in the church, where I have loved to work and serve in. All these experiences testify to me that God loves his children and He has a plan for them to grow and learn to love others. I have had the chance to meet wonderful people because of events and assignments in the church. It's amazing to me that after visiting with a friend for about 15 years, only through mail and phone conversations, she greeted me at my front door one day. After all those years, for the first time we met and hugged and finally saw each other face to face! It's exciting to belong to such a wonderful church!
