Hi I'm Mary

I love Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a single, working mom raising two children. I enjoy reading, music and sewing. I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to visit, enjoy meals together and do fun things.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, also known as Mormon. I felt the love of God in my life as a young girl and have always found great peace when I have followed the teachings of Jesus as found in the scriptures. We believe that God guides our lives through the Holy Spirit and that we can find answers to our problems through prayer, scripture study and by listening to inspired words from modern prophets and apostles. I have had trials and difficulties as most people do and have found great support from my church family. I have made many friends with others of my faith as I have lived in various places. Most of all I feel a connection with God and can turn to him as I have questions and problems. He has always been there for me as I have tried my best to live right. When I make mistakes I try to repent quickly and change my ways and I find I am blessed for doing so. Everything I have learned by being involved in my church has helped me to grow. We are not perfect but believe we should try to improve our lives and overcome our weaknesses. I have visited with many people of other faiths and love the common ground of love and faith in Christ that I share with them as I meet other Christians. I know that there is truth to be found in many religions and I try to keep an open mind and accept truth wherever it is found.

How I live my faith

We have no paid clergy in our church. Each of us has a responsibility to serve and support the church organization. We are "called" to work in various capacities under inspiration from our Bishop, the leader of our congregation. He and his counselors pray and discuss who should be called to help with the various responsibilties. I have worked with children of all ages. I have taught preschoolers bible stories and teenagers about finding answers to life's problems. I have played the piano for church services and the choir. I enjoy singing in the choir and we perform for our main services (Sacrament Meeting) every 6 weeks or so. Music is a very big part of our religion. It brings us closer to the Holy Spirit as we sing simple hymns. Right now I am teaching adults and we are currently studying the New Testament. It is wonderful to continue to learn about Jesus and the ancient apostles as I study and prepare for each lesson. So many of the teachings apply now. I love the Relief Society of our church. It is the women's organization for all woman 18 and older. We do charity work, help eachother out, study in our own separate meetings where we can discuss the gospel and how to be better women, wives and mothers. I lost my mom when I was 22 and I have learned so much from the other woman at church on raising children, cooking, making bread, sewing and service. I believe the way the church is organized is guided by God's hand to bless each one of us. Everyone is welcome, even just to visit!
