Hi I'm Scott

I'm a physicist serving in the United States Navy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've wanted to be a scientist since I was 10 years old so I am very excited to be beginning my Master's research project in the field of quantum computing. When I'm not in the lab or in lecture, I'm either cooking for my wife or working out at the kickboxing gym. I love to go fishing but never have the time. I am proud to be serving in the Navy not because I want to be a part of all the conflict going on in the world but because I believe in keeping the land I love safe. My father gave his talents to the Navy as a pilot for 16 years. I will be giving mine as a physics teacher at the Navy Nuclear Propulsion School. My mother came from an Italian family and gave to me her passion for cooking and her passion for life. My family made me who I am. I am newly married and I'm excited for the day when I have children of my own.

Why I am a Mormon

My family has been Mormons for seven generations. I was taught the morals and traditions of my faith since I was young. When I was a teenager I saw my friends make so many mistakes that still effect them years later. Seeing the consequences that I avoided gave me confidence in the correctness of the morals I was taught. I want to live my life according to correct morals. This is not why I am a Mormon. I am a scientist. Things must make sense to me in order for me to believe them. The more I learn about the natural world and the physical laws that make it work the more it makes sense to me that God is the designer of it all. This is not why I am a Mormon. I am a Mormon because I know it is the true Church of Jesus Christ. To believe in God you must also believe that he is able make himself known to us. I want to do what is right more than I want anything else. He has helped come unto Jesus Christ by making known to me that I am in his true Church.

How I live my faith

Kindness. My membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints provides me so many opportunities to extend kindness to those in need. This is one of my favorite parts of being a Mormon. The more I focus on finding ways to extend kindness, the more I am able to forget myself and just be happy.
