Hi I'm Mariah

I live in Georgia, U.S. My passion is music and the dramatic arts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi. My name is Mariah. I will soon be serving a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Mesa, Arizona. I find great joy in expressing my love for the Savior and others through sharing my testimony of His gospel, as well as through song and dance. Eventually I would like to pursue a career in music and the arts. More recently, I have completed nursing school to become an LPN. There is something uniquely different about being able to relieve the suffering of another, or noticing the positive changes others are making because of your efforts to help them. I am the second oldest, the oldest sister, of a family of seven children. I love each of them dearly, despite some of their antics, like trying to avoid chores or teasing one another.:) I cannot imagine living throughout eternity without them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this church because I know it is true. It provides me with peace and a sense of purpose in my life. I know that by studying the scriptures, praying to my Heavenly Father, attending church meetings where I learn more about Christ and His doctrine, and striving to live worthily of the spirit, I feel peace knowing that the Lord will help me become successful in all of my life’s pursuits. Through this church, I have learned why I am here, where I came from, and where I will go after this life. I have also learned to develop talents and skills not only for my own satisfaction, but also for the purpose of benefiting others. As I do so, I am fulfilling my mission on Earth. I have read The Book of Mormon, (scripture that, along with the bible, testifies of Christ), prayed to know if it was true, and the thought came to mind, that if, by living the teachings found within its pages I am blessed, then I have no reason to deny that it contains true doctrine. I know that Jesus Christ is my personal Savior. He is my friend, exemplar, and God. It is He who stands at the head of this church, and I love Him with all my heart.

How I live my faith

One of the best ways to share my testimony and love of my Savior, Jesus Christ, I believe, is through the small and simple things that I do daily. Actions such as smiling at those I come in contact with, asking about and then listening to others tell me about their lives, and trying to help when and where I can, are some of these things.

What do Mormons believe about Jesus Christ? Do Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God?

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. All of His labor on the Earth was performed to follow the will, or purpose, of his Father. He wanted others to join him in that unity of purpose (John 17:20-24; 1 Cor.6:17). He taught that the way to find true joy and peace is through service, unconditional love, exercising faith, repenting of wrongdoing, receiving the ordinances of baptism and confirmation, and enduring to the end. He performed the ultimate sacrifice, atoning for the sins of all mankind, "that they might not suffer if they would repent" (D&C 19:16). His was a perfect life, a life devoted to improving the lives of others. Because he has done so, his name is revered and his teachings practiced throughout the world. We believe that through following the doctrines Christ established on the Earth, we can become more like him and receive a fullness of joy that he promises. We invite all to apply these teachings in their lives to know of themselves if this is His church once again restored to the Earth. Show more Show less
