Hi I'm Alison

I grew up in sunny Southern California. I am a mother of four young children and I'm Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Southern California and am the oldest of three children. I moved to Arizona eight years ago with my family. I am married and have four young children. In this season of my life my favorite thing to do is spend time with my husband and children and to go on fun vacations with them. Before I became a mother I earned a degree in Art History and studied in Italy for a summer. I love the outdoors, hiking and camping with my family. I also love to play sports - especially tennis, volleyball and softball. I love watching sports as well. I served a Spanish speaking mission in Florida and studied in Jerusalem for a semester during college. I love to travel whenever I get the chance and to read every good book I can find.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was eight years old. My parents grew up in the Church as well as my grandparents and their parents. Since my baptism, I have learned many truths about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I firmly believe that everyone, whether they have been raised in the Church or have converted later in life must find out for themselves that the Gospel is true and gain their own testimony of their Savior, Jesus Christ. My testimony came as I grew older and as I read and pondered the teachings of the Book of Mormon. I know that it is the most correct book of any on earth and as the Prophet Joseph Smith said, "will bring a man closer to God than any other book. " The teachings of the Book of Mormon have brought me closer to God as I have applied it's doctrine and principles in my life. It has taught me about God's Plan of Happiness and that He is no respector of persons. He loves all of His children and wants them to be happy. I know that he gives us guidance through His spirit to help us to become more like Him. As I have tried to become more like our Savior I have begun to experience what it feels like to have true joy in my life. My joy comes from service to others, especially my family. My hope in writing this is that someone who is searching for the truth will read my testimony and be inspired to find out for themselves if the Book of Mormon is a true book written by prophets called of God. The spirit will touch those who are honestly seeking the truth. I know this is true because the spirit has witnessed to me that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's church on the earth today. Our Savior is ever mindful of us and wants us to feel the joy of coming unto Him through His Gospel. My prayer is that others may experience this joy as well.

How I live my faith

I have come to know that happiness abounds when we serve others. I have had many different callings in my church service. I have taught young women and children and I am currently serving as the President of a Women's organization in our congregation at Church. It has been a wonderful blessing in my life and in the lives of my family members to be able to help those in need in our congregation and community. I truly believe these women have helped me more than I have helped them. They are each wonderful examples of strength and wisdom. One of the projects our Women's organization has been involved in is making quilts for the poor and needy in our local community. We have also held many different types of classes and workshops to educate the women in our Church about self defense, CPR, Emergency Preparedness, Food Storage, sewing, cooking, journaling, sports, diet and exercise, women's health and various other activities. Within our organization we have women assigned to watch over and take care of other women in case emergencies arise or in other times of need. I have seen many ladies helping their new found friends by bringing meals to their homes when they've had babies, surgery, or were sick. It is nice to know that there is someone to call when I need some help or just to talk to. Serving in this organization has been one of the most enriching and inspiring endeavors in my life. The world is full of such remarkable people! I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to get to know these women of faith and to learn from their examples. They are my constant reminders of what it means to be Christlike.
