Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in Southern California. I'm a mother of four wonderful children. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a working mother of four. I love to swim and spend time teaching and encouraging my children in the sport. I also serve on the Board of Directors of my local swim team. I enjoy being outside, kayaking, hiking, biking and basically any activity outdoors that will get me moving.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the LDS church, but during my teenage years and early 20's I became inactive and like others during this age had to decide who I was and what I wanted for my life. I I struggled with understanding my purpose and whether I truly believed that Joseph Smith was a prophet. One day after my first child was born I looked into his eyes and decided that in order to be the best mother for him I needed to have a relationship with my Father in Heaven. I started to pray and ask sincerely what God would have me do with my life. I asked if Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and whether he restored God's church to this earth. I was filled with peace and joy and a warmth that is difficult to describe. I knew that God had answered my prayers and I committed to go back to church. Doing the right thing is not always easy and being a member of the LDS church doesn't make all of my problems go away, but the peace I fell in my heart gives me strength to face every challenge life throws me. I know that my Savior gave his life for me and that God, our Heavenly Father, wants all of his children to find this peace and joy. I love that we have the opportunity to be sealed to our families in the temple of God, not only for our time on earth, but for eternity. I love being a member of the Mormon church!

How I live my faith

I am an active member in my community. I help in my children's schools, serve on the Board of Directors for my local swim team, organize service projects for youth and children, I teach music each week to the children at our church. We learn songs that help them to understand how much their Heavenly Father loves them and that they are all unique and special. I love working with the children. I also work with the Boy Scouts of America and Cub Scouts programs. I believe that the future of our nation will be determined by these children that we are raising and it is wonderful to see them grow and learn to love and respect God.
