Hi I'm Rad

I grew up in South East Idaho in a small farming community, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married and have 5 children. I like to go boating, camping, working with wood, building things, and spending time with my Family. I have an associates degree in Electrical Engineering and worked in the Nuclear industry for 15 years before moving to Colorado. I am self employed now and love living in Colorado.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents are members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and so I grew up knowing only that religion. I was 17 years old when I began to question the things that mattered in life like we all do at some point. I had to know if what my family believed is what I believed. I remember telling my parents I wan't going to church one Sunday and for some odd reason my father let me stay home. That is when I began to realize that there was something I was really missing by not going to those Sunday meetings. I had to find out what was the truth for myself. I knew there was a God and that He answered prayers I had never really asked for myself if all this was true. I had felt the holy spirit witness to me in times past about things that were true like when I would help others with my dad and when I was being obedient to the things my parents had taught me. I finally had the courage to ask for myself after i had read the Book of Mormon and knew at that time that God really did have a plan for me and was answering the questions I was having through the holy spirit. I had felt it many times before so when I got that good warm feeling when I asked about the true church I knew it was right. I Served a 2 year mission for the church which really helped me understand that all of us are children of our Father in Heaven and that He wants the very best for everyone of us. I know that there have been many many blessing given to my children and myself from God because of the understanding and willingness to live the principals He has taught us here on the earth. I know he has a Prophet on the Earth today that continues to give us the counsel and guidance from God for our times just like He did in the old testament times. I know that Joseph Smith is a Prophet of God who was called to restore the fullness of the gospel in these the latter days. The blessings that come from knowing and living the fullness of the gospel are many and available to all of God's Children.

How I live my faith

I work with the young men in the church, helping them in the boy scouts obtain the Eagle scout award and doing service in the community. This spring one of the service projects for the city was helping them plant 400 trees along a walking path by the creek. Families were invited to participate in the activity and we had such a great turn out that the project was done in an hour and a half. That was a lot of fun. We also went on a High adventure trip this summer that the young men planned we spent 5 days hiking in the mountains of Colorado. We visit families on a monthly bases to see if there is anything we can help them with.

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

The law of tithing was explained in Malachi of the old testament. Tithe means 10% that means 10% of my income. The great thing about the laws of God are that when they are obeyed blessing come to those who obey the law. I am not extremely wealthy when you consider my bank account but I have always been taken care of because of my obedience to the law of tithing. Show more Show less

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Yes, Why would God change his program in our times? He gave his children on the earth a prophet in the old and new testaments and he has given us one today! They teach His gospel and direct his church. We have the opportunity to listen to the prophets every 6 months in the general conference of His church. They give us clearer understandings the gospel for the current state of affairs on the earth today. How great it is to know that Gods teachings never change even though the world around us does.
