Hi I'm Tommy

I'm an adoptive parent, a happily married husband, an avid sports fan, a major goof and a follower of Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a husband of 9 years and consider my wife to be one of the greatest blessings in my life. I have the awesome priviledge of being a father to 2 wonderful little boys who mean the world to me. I received an undergraduate degree in accounting and a graduate degree in business adminstration and accounting. I currently work in government finance for a local municipality, which I find to be a very engaging and rewarding environment to work in. I love to run and play sports in my spare time, but most importantly, I love being with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon my entire life, however, I choose to continue to be a Mormon for many reasons. I am a Mormon because I recognize the great blessings I have received throughout my life because of what the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints teaches me. I have come to know that I am a child of God and that He loves me. I have learned that I can pray to Him and that He will hear me and answer my prayers in His special way. I have come to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that His sacrifice on the cross was for me. I know that because of Jesus Christ's sacrifice, I can repent and be forgiven of my sins because He paid the price for them by giving His own life. I choose to be a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ has become a family to me. I love the feelings I get when I surround myself with individuals who, like me, have faith in Jesus Christ and who work together to lift each other up. The members of my local congregation recognize that we are not perfect and we need each other to get through hard times. We work together to "perfect the saints" as the Apostle Paul taught. I choose to be a Mormon because of the things that I am taught on a weekly basis at church. By attending church on Sundays I have learned why I am here on Earth. I have learned that I have a purpose, and I can become more if I follow the teachings of Christ. I have learned that the power of God is real; that worthy men can hold His Priesthood and bless the lives of those on the Earth today, as in times past. I have learned what it means to be a better citizen in my community and the value and blessings that come from helping those in need. I choose to be a Mormon because it brings me happiness!

How I live my faith

One of the great things about membership in the Mormon Church is that there are always opportunities for service. In my local congregation I actively work with the men who are over the age of 18. I get to coordinate groups of men who go out and visit the families in our local neighborhoods to make sure these families have the things they need, both temporally and spiritually. When someone is moving in or out my local neighborhood, I make sure I am there to help them. When I hear of someone who is sick or who is having a hard time, I make sure that I take the time to visit them and uplift them. On occasion I get to teach these men on Sundays in our church meetings. As a group of men we get to share our thoughts and experiences with each other and discuss ways in which we can be better husbands, fathers, sons, and citizens in our communities.
