Hi I'm Lindsey

I am Lindsey. I am a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and you can call me a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student. That's pretty much it. I am a typical young single adult Latter Day Saint living, in the United States. I love reading, cooking, eating, drawing, creating, and learning. I also love talking about doctrine. In most conversations I do a lot of listening, because I still have good deal of learning to do, but other times people have a hard time getting me to stop talking about it. I love studying the Word of God; New Testament, Old Testament, Pearl of Great Price, Conference talks, and especially The Book of Mormon.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints since I was eight. I was born in to The Church and have been raised in The Church by my loving family. I am a Mormon because I want to be. I want to be Mormon because I love God and I want to serve Him. Some people say that Latter Day Saints follow blindly and don't think for themselves. I have studied it and found out for my own that this is what I want; to live and become closer to Christ. I not only want it, but I know that Christ lives and that He lived and died for our sins. I know he atoned for us, and that is why I am a Mormon. I know I chose to be a Latter Day Saint then, I choose to be a Latter Day Saint now, and I will choose to be a Latter Day Saint until Christ comes again. I am a Latter Day Saint, but you can call me Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live what I believe, and I do it to the best of my abilities. I try to live how Christ would live, and do things that he would approve of. I follow the prophet. I dress how I think; modestly, and cleanly. I speak how I think; respectfully and true. I read what I know will lift me, because I know what I read is directly correlated to what I think. I do this because I know it is how Christ lives, and because I want to become like Christ. I follow the guidance of my parents and the advice of my friends. Most of all, I follow the Spirit because I know that that is how Heavenly Father talks to me. I do what I know is right, and I follow that. I pray to my Heavenly Father though the day so then He knows, and I know, that I am ready and willing to follow His will. I love my God, my family, friends and the people all around and I believe that they deserve my very best because they are children of God. I live by my faith by knowing who I am, and I know I am a daughter of God.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Lindsey
Some people call Mormonism a cult because they don't know what else to call it. They see that only some Latter Day Saints are let into the temples, so they think we are preforming dark secret rituals when in all truth, the Latter Day Saints worthy to enter the temple are simply learning about their purpose on Earth, making covenants with the Lord, and preforming work for the dead through proxy. Many people think the Mormon church is unorthodox because it did not stem from Catholic or Protestant churches. Because we are unorthodox to the Catholic and Protestant standards the term "cult" has been tagged on Mormonism. When people realize that the Latter Day Saints are not part of a secret, Satanic society, they stop using the word cult and see that the Latter Day Saints worship and teach that Christ is the Son of God, the Redeemer and the Savior of the World.
