Hi I'm Carl

I grew up in Ohio, I speak French, I'm a hockey player, I am studying financial economics, and four years ago I became a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Ohio, and I was not a member of the Mormon church until I was twenty years old. For my twenty years before I joined the church I was an all year round athlete. I started playing hockey when I was three and played at a university in Ohio. I played high school football, and baseball. I loved sports you could say it was my religion before I became a member. After I joined the church I decided to go on a mission, instead of pursuing more hockey. I served in Paris, and I loved those two years. I came back, and I was able to play hockey for one more semester, and I called it quits for competitive hockey. My wife and I have known each other since we were six years old, and we were engaged nine days after I came home, and married five months later. I grew up in an amazing home. I have a great brother, and sister. My parents taught me everything that I needed to know before I joined the church, and they still teach me quite a bit.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a great home, and was very happy as a young man. I have great parents, great siblings, I was playing a college sport, and for all intensive purposes I "knew" that life could never get better. I was wrong. I was introduced to the Mormon church, and was given the Book of Mormon, by my friend at the time, now my wife. She told me to read it, so I did. I read and prayed, and this went on for about a week, and one time when I prayed I felt something that I couldn't explain. I decided to join the church because of that warm feeling of love that I knew came from God. I am so much happier than I was back then, not because the struggles of life have gone away, but because I now live my life based on the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know that no matter how happy you are, or how great your life is going, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will improve every aspect of your life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith day to day. There are not always amazing spiritual moments but that is why it is called faith, because we must live our lives by following the principles of Jesus Christ. Here are a couple things I'm involved in. Currently I teach a class at church for men that are about my age (24). We talk about how to improve our role as husbands, and fathers. My wife and I have taught classes to young children in church. That was fun. I live my faith most importantly with my wife. We rely on each other for everything, and building each other spiritually is the most important.
