Hi I'm Marlene

I'm a happily-married mother of five. I compose music. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Arizona all my life. My husband and I have been happily married for 28 years. We have five wonderful children (three sons and two daughters), and one wonderful son-in-law. All our children are now adults and we look forward to welcoming more in-laws into our family. I work part-time, mostly from home, as a legal secretary for my husband's law office. I find great joy in being able to stay at home with my family. I am very happy! I love music, and began composing church music in 2007. I have written solos, instrumentals, choral music, and children's music which will always hold a special place in my heart. There is something so sweet and so special about hearing innocent little voices singing, with all their hearts, a song about being a child of God, or of one day going to the temple. I have had the joyous pleasure of hearing children sing some of my songs, and it is always a rewarding experience. I like learning new skills and crafts. I am learning to use a spinning wheel to make good use of the wool we get from our sheep. We live on a mini-farm and we raise sheep, ducks, chickens, emus, rheas, rabbits, and lots of other animals. Because of our love of animals, we are often asked to rescue animals in need of a home. Our family has also spent many years involved in 4-H, and my husband and I have been volunteer 4-H leaders for over 15 years. We are also active in scouting. All three of our sons (and my husband), plus our son-in-law, are Eagle Scouts!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a life-long, active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints and I cannot remember not having a testimony of its truthfulness. Staying active in the church has blessed my life in so many ways, I cannot count. It seems that each and every day I experience something that further deepens and strengthens my faith and testimony. I love the Book of Mormon and I know that its pages are full of the true teachings of our Savior Jesus Christ. We need only seek to know for ourselves and ask, and the truth will be made known to us. Strengthening the family is also emphasized in the Mormon church and I'm so grateful for the love and support we receive through the church to assist us in strengthening those ties. I'm also grateful for the knowledge that I can be with my family eternally. I love my family very much and wouldn't want it any other way! The church is true and I'm so grateful to be a Mormon!

How I live my faith

I love serving in the church! I am currently the chorister in the children's organization of our ward. This is a relatively new calling for me and I already love it!! The children are so much fun!! We have a blast as we learn new songs every week while also learning about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I want them to realize that learning can be fun. I enjoy serving with wonderful people and sharing love and friendship with them each week. I have also previoiusly served in the presidencies of the women's and young women's organizations, and have also served in music callings. I hope to always be of assistance in the church, wherever I am needed. A large part of my faith is due to my love for our Savior, Jesus Christ. It disturbs me greatly when people who are not familiar with our church claim we are not Christians. Our faith is centered around Christ. I think of Him always and I try to love and serve others as He did, and I strive to live my life in a manner that would be pleasing to Him. I love my Savior, and I know He loves me, too! I hope this love is reflected in all I do and say.

Are Mormons Christians?

Jesus Christ is my Savior, my Redeemer, and I know that he attoned for my sins. I love Him, and I am grateful to belong to His church, where beliefs are centered around His teachings. Those who do not believe Mormons are Christians need only read the Book of Mormon to see that our entire faith is based upon Christ. I invite you to open its pages to discover another testament of Christ and learn and know for yourself that we truly are Christians. Show more Show less
