Hi I'm Bennett

I'm from Colorado. I love being in the mountains. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 22 years old and currently attending college. My three favorite things in life are mountain biking, my golden lab Annabelle, and my mom’s cooking. I am at the equally enjoyable and stressful time in my life when I am trying to figure out what I want to do with my future. I served a two-year mission for the Church from 2008 to 2010 in Toronto, Ontario. I came to find out that not everyone in Canada speaks French and rides a dog sled to work. While on my mission and now at school, I love getting to know new people and learn about their circumstances. I am studying communications and business while at school. My real passion is learning/teaching personal development principles. More so learning right now, but sometimes teaching them to anyone that I can pin in a corner. I love spending time with my family and close friends, especially if it is in the outdoors!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been blessed with a close to perfect circumstance in this life. I have parents whose number one concern is the welfare and happiness of their children. I have three siblings that even through our hormonal teenage years we all get along still. I have wonderful extended family. I have received a great education. Overall, I have always had all of my needs and most of my wants provided for me. While growing up I had a ‘one of these things is not like the other’ moment. It came after a few times of hanging out at my friend’s houses. They were great families, but amid playing cops and robbers, I recognized that something was different. The gospel of Jesus Christ has provided that difference in my life. I have felt the confirming witness from the Lord that this is His Church. Lucky for me, I have not had to look beyond my own home to see evidence of this. Obviously there are broken homes and terrible family situations that people are in. By trying my best to follow the teachings of the Savior my life improves consistently. This same blessing is extended to everyone, no matter how poor of a circumstance they find themselves in.

How I live my faith

The Church provides many opportunities to serve within the congregation as well as in the community. Members are given responsibilities, or callings, within the Church as a way to help strengthen families and individuals. I have the opportunity each month to visit certain people and to be visited myself. During these visits we share messages from the scriptures and the leaders of the Church. I have benefited from holding callings in the Church by being provided a way to serve and learn. The gospel of Jesus Christ not only calls for this kind of service, but also for daily application of the principles and doctrine that He taught. I try to follow these teachings and live them each day. I make mistakes, usually multiple times throughout the day and often I keep making the same one over and over, but as I try to live what I am taught I know the Lord is pleased.
