Hi I'm Kelly

I love the great outdoors, crafts, cooking, and science. I am pursuing a career in mathematics education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My dad was a Geologist and my mom was an English major which makes me an interesting cross between the two. I love science and math just as much as I love crafts and cooking. As a whole, I just love being creative. I have 3 sisters and 2 brothers wherein I am the second youngest. I love my family and they are a great support to me. Recently I finished my master's degree and I hope to be a mathematics educator, which is also a cross between science and art. I also love being outside in nature and I love outdoor adventures. I have recently taken up the hobby of running, and I have already run two half marathons. I love family, friends, and laughter. I hope to be a life long student because there is so much to learn!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but I have been converted through particularly powerful spiritual experiences. My path to true convertion started when I was 12 years old. I realized that I was relying on my parents' testimony of the church and that I did not have a testimony for myself. Through much scripture study, prayer, and fasting, I felt a strong confirmation that the church is indeed true and I have remained true to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ ever since. Through my life, I have learned the pain that comes through sin and disobedience just as I have learned the joy, peace, and sweetness of the atonement of Jesus Christ. It is because of Christ that I can be clean of my sins and it is because of Christ that I can live eternally with my family. Even though my father has passed away from cancer, I feel his spirit in my life and I know that it is because of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. He is my Savior and my Redeemer. I know that Jesus lives and loves me! I am a Mormon because of the peace and strength the gospel brings to my life. There is safety and security for the soul and direction for my life. My relationships are meaningful and I know there is much good that I can do. I am a Mormon becuase the gospel enriches my life and makes me whole!

How I live my faith

Currently, I am a full time missionary for my church in Wisconsin. I get to share the message of the restored gospel with everyone I meet as well as to serve everyone around me in various ways. I am anxious for others to enjoy the blessings of living the gospel of Jesus Christ. Before my mission, I had various responsibilities that not only blessed my life but, hopefully, the lives of other people. I will just focus on two of my responsibilies. Besides attending church each week, I also participated in teaching the gospel to other members during church. I was given a particular topic that I would study in the scriptures and talks by our general authorities and I would pray for guidance. With such preparation, I knew what to teach to the people listening to me. I learned many important lessons through teaching others. I learned more about the gospel, people, and about how to teach. I also had the responsibility to visit members of my church each week. I was able to draw closer to them as we talked about our experiences and the gospel. From visiting people, I have life long friends now and we stay close even though we do not live near each other anymore.
