Hi I'm Steve

I'm just a guy who also happens to be a Mormon . I grew up in Colorado. I am married to a great woman and we have two children.

About Me

I enjoy shooting sports, hunting, and riding ATV's with my family. I am a husband, father and brother. I love to BBQ and make my own beef jerky. I work as a meat cutter at a local grocery store so I know all the best cuts.

Why I am a Mormon

I was baptized when I was 9 years old, but my family didn't attend church very much. It wasn't until my late 20's that I became an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Growing up it always felt like I was looking for something or that something in my life was missing. I can say that I have looked both in the world and in religion for that something that was missing in my life. I spent many years trying to live my life "my way" but always felt like I was looking for something or that something was missing. In my mid 20's during a very difficult time in my life, I began to read the Book of Mormon. I felt peace immediately. I found when I quit reading, I felt overwhelmed and alone. The more I read and learned about Jesus Christ and his Gospel the more peace I felt. Even when everything in my life seemed like it couldn't get tougher or more challenging, if I stayed close to Christ and his teachings I felt peace. I know this peace comes from the atonement of Jesus Christ and my daily attempt to live my life in accordance to his teachings. I am a Mormon because the peace the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings to me and my family. As I try and live my life in accordance with the teachings of Jesus Christ, I find peace and comfort that I have not been able to find anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I am not perfect but I try and live my life in a way that others know they can count on me. I know that is how my Heavenly Father wants me to live. My membership in the Church has provided opportunities to serve in the community. I have been lucky enough to serve mostly with the youth of the church. I love the youth and their energy. I have served with youth in the Boy Scouts of America program which the church uses for part of its program for young men. I actively attend my local congregation weekly. The church doesn't use paid clergy so the members are asked to serve in their local areas. I have had many chances to serve in my local congregation and serve where ever I am asked to serve.
