Hi I'm Rebecca

I'm a Mom. I'm a chemist. I love to bellydance. I love strawberries. If I find the time I love to read. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have my Masters in Organic chemistry. My dream is to find a cure for cancer someday. I've worked in a number of labs researching drugs to treat cancer and cancer vaccines. I am part of a bellydance collective, we put on shows to raise money for charities. It's one way I can give back to the community. I didn't start dancing until I was 30 but I can't get enough of it. I am a mom of triplets, and have a son in the Air Force. My greatest joy is getting to spend time with my family. I love to read but it is hard to find the time, so I listen to books on CD as I commute to and from work. I love to cook and try new recipes. My house isn't always clean, but my kids and husband know they are more important and that I love them.

Why I am a Mormon

My conversion started eight years ago when I meet my husband. He was a single father. He had raised his son from birth on his own. David is a Mormon. I loved that he had faith and was instilling that in his son. I was thirty and dated a lot, faith in God was not something I had seen in many men. Of course this is just one of the many reasons I fell in love with him. We were married 5 years ago. The day before our first anniversary we found out we were expecting triplets. It was a rough pregancy and our babies were born at 23 weeks. Our daughter lived a little over and hour. We had one day with our son, as he passed away we were with my parents, David's parents and brother and son. My mom was crying and kept saying why, why is this happening. David's father said something that changed my life. " We are all spirit children before we come to earth. We come here to receive a body and then learn lessons through out life to make us perfect so we may return to heaven and live in God's presence. Piper and Kevin are perfect spirits, they only needed a body and a very brief stay on earth before they could live with Heavenly Father." God was with us that day, I could feel him there. This statement gave me such comfort and peace in my saddest moment. I wasn't baptized right away, I was too focus on our son in the NICU. He spent four months there. He is our miracle or gift from God. A year after I was baptized we were able to go to the temple and be sealed as a family for time and all eternity. I know that I will hold my babies in my arms again. Families are forever. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have not been a member for very long but I have been given many chances to give back to my church family. Around Christmas time our Church puts on a large gingerbread display for the community, I love being in charge of decorating gingerbread houses for with the people in our ward. I have also been part of the women's group leadership, planning monthly meeting. We planned cooking classes and a gardening class. We even planned a couple of pamper yourself nights. I was also called as a teacher for the womens group. I loved being their teacher, I learned as much from the women in the class as they learned from me. Being new to the church this was a great way
