Hi I'm Rich

I'm a Convert to the church of 35 years

About Me

I'm a father of six children, three boys and three girls. My wife and I have been married for 35 years. I like to hunt and fish and do so whenever I can. Our children are grown and out of the house four of which are married and have brought us eight grand daughters and one grandson, all of whom we love and enjoy. We have two still attending college, so we're not finished yet. My wife has worked outside the home but to her credit has found jobs in which she has been able to have our children with her. I on the other hand have worked for the same company for thirty one years, in the farming industry.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up attending another church and would deem myself as a religious person. When I was fourteen my mother gathered my sisters and I together and told us we could go to any Church we wanted, or none at all. We all stopped going at least for a short time. I then followed one of my sisters to another Church and attended faithfully for several years. The minister taught hell and damnation and was indeed quite exciting to listen too. He transgressed with one of the members of his congregation and was asked to move on. His replacement taught so differently that it seemed a conflict of doctrine and as such I lost interest and started to attend yet another church. During this time of three to four years I had several conversations with Mormon children my age and thru those years developed a better understanding of their beliefs. When I graduated from high school I decided to take the missionary discussions to find out for myself just what they believed and why. During those discussions I discovered that their beliefs were really my beliefs in that I never did think God the Father and his son Jesus Christ and the Holy Ghost were the same being. I always had trouble with the baptism of Jesus by John the Baptist when the heavens open and God said this is my Son in whom I'm week pleased, who was speaking. Well the two Mormon missionaries had the answer to that and other questions. I continued my discussions and found myself needing to pray to find out if indeed this was the restored church once again upon the earth. I took this as a very serious challenge as knowing and believing would cause me to change my life and life style. Through prayer and fasting i found out that indeed it was true. Now I knew what to do but did I have enough courage to do it. The answer is yes and as such I was baptized.

How I live my faith

During my membership in the church I've found myself sharing more outwardly my love for my mom and dad. I served on the school board for ten years and have been on our city beautification Committee along with being a AAU coach for several of our children. I've tried to live a Christ like life treating others with respect and doing good when ever possible. I enjoy working with the youth and have served in the youth program of the church for years. Knowing that God lives and that he loves me gives me purpose and keeps me trying to obey the commandments. Though i'm not perfect I do try to make a difference day to day.
