Hi I'm Shelley

I grew up in Idaho. I'm a mother of 3 young kids. I teach college math. I sing in the Community Mormon Choir. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am married to my high school sweetheart. I am a mother of 3 young children under 5 years old. I teach night classes at a community college. I sing the the Community Mormon Choir. I love to sew, crochet, knit and cook. I make up many of my own patterns. I love to read, when my kids allow. I hate doing the dishes. I love a clean house and being crafty. I like jogging and biking, although find it hard to put time aside for these activities. I love my family and friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the LDS religion. This was my introduction to the church. I didn't question my membership until my teenage years. I've spent much time pondering and praying about the truthfulness of the gospel. I always come back to the fact that the feelings I get from the spirit cannot be manufactured. Therefore, I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I know it is the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth. I know this because the Holy Ghost has revealed this to me. I am a Christian.

How I live my faith

Being an at home mom limits much of my exposure to others... But when I am out and about I try to be honest at stores, the library, the park, and etc. I feel my children will see this and learn from my example. When I hit hard times and bad situations I think about what Christ would do if He were in my situation. Such as looking out for the other children at the park, returning when a store under-charges me, and such. I try to be patient in traffic. I follow through with my promises and commitments. I try to be patient with and teach my children. I know at times I fail and try to start anew each day. I go 'visiting teaching' to fellow sisters and friends in my ward to further friendships and serve others when they need a helping hand. I have a calling to teach every forth Sunday. I love teaching and learning from the others comments during this time. I attend the temple with my handsome and wonderful husband. This helps us grow together by resetting our sights back on Christ when we loose focus, because of, well, life. We pay a 10% tithing. We keep the Sabbath day holy by attending church and putting things of the world aside for 24 hours.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

We believe that the Holy Ghost is one of the members of the Godhead. The Godhead is made up of three separate members; God the Father, His Son Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost. He is the only one without a physical body. The Holy Ghost is the member that brings enlightenment and knowledge to our hearts and minds. It is through the Holy Ghost that I know truth. I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior through the power of the Holy Spirit. There are different ways we can feel the spirit. For me I get an overwhelming and undeniable feeling deep inside. Sometimes, however it's a small thought about doing something that didn't originate inside me. But most of all when it I feel the spirit everything feels and becomes positive and joyful.
