Hi I'm John

I grew up on cattle ranches. I'm a retired police Chief Detective and a PhD Psychologist and Naturopathic Physician.

About Me

I was born in 1944. I married at 19 and was a widower the same year. My second marriage ended in divorce after 10 years; and, I have been married and sealed for time and eternity to my third wife for 38 years. I'm a father of seven children who are successful adults. I served in the Air Force as a SAC Combat Defense Sgt. Afterwards I spend 33 years in California and Oregon law enforcement. I'm a "professional student", having a Bachelors degree in Administration of Justice, Masters in Sociology, a PhD in Psychology and a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine. I enjoy flying and starting new businesses. I doubt that I'll ever retire, as I always seem to see a need and set out to profit by filling it!

Why I am a Mormon

I spent a lot of time exploring religeous teachings. I studied Hinduism, the teachings of Buddhism and Islam. I was raised Christian in both the Baptist and Methodist churches. The teachings of other Christian faiths could not answer, Why am I here? or, Where did I come from? My ministers were educated, but could not articulate doctrine sufficiently to keep me believing they had the answers. Often I found sermons to be more against other teachings rather than teaching their doctrine. I wandered in darkness looking for light. That light came when two sister missionaries came to my door and I allowed them to teach me. More to the point, they allowed me to ask them the questions I had all my life. I was surprised when their answers came from the King James version of the Bible as well as "their bible"... I read the Book of Mormon with an eye toward finding doctrine in conflict with the Bible I knew. There was no conflict! The Book of Mormon is, as they say in law, "on all fours" with the Bible scripture. My life has been saved and my place in Heaven preserved by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

How I live my faith

Every day starts and ends with prayer. It is my goal to find others to serve in any way I can. I strive to be engaged in preserving the United States of America by voting in local and national elections and discussing with anyone interested in the qualifications of political candidates. I accept; and try to excell in; all offers to serve in activities relating to the administration of my church. The Church is wholly run and administered by unpaid members. These assignments are called, "Callings". One of these callings requires me to teach a men's group once a month and I have been the leader of the older men's group for several years. Many times I have been called upon to deliver Sunday sermons which has afforded me many opportunities to study and learn more about subjects I might not otherwise delved into so deeply.
