Hi I'm Jeremy

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a graduate student studying literature with an emphasis in Victorian literature and culture as well as 20th-century philosophy, particularly from a post-structuralist perspective. Comics as a medium bridge the gap between my academic and non-academic reading interests, and I am interested in fantasy novels but have little interest at this point with exploring them within a scholarly framework. Besides my literary interests, understood broadly, I am also interested in politics and economics and enjoy having discussions and debates both face-to-face and online. I enjoy watching movies, both for the sheer passive enjoyment and to actively engage with them in a more critical manner. Also, I love Mormon blogs.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a Mormon and choose to be a Mormon because I believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ was restored through Joseph Smith. I want to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and I believe that those teachings can be found more vibrantly within the restored gospel than anywhere else.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to give people hope that regardless of the things we do that are wrong or right, we are still worthy of love. I try to share this hope when interacting with people at church every week, with my colleagues, my students, and even people I meet for the first time. I want people to sense that spark of divinity within and feel good about themselves and their potential.
