Hi I'm Taunya

I'm a writer, wife, mother of two. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am originally from Washington state, but have lived in major cities across the United States. Today I have the greatest job in the world -- MOM! While the special moments that come with parenting are here and there, I love that I am "on duty" and can be there when they happen. I also am a writer. Before children, I was working in corporate communications for a software company. I enjoyed working with talented business professionals, diving into big business issues, and making an impact. The complexity of this job and travel schedule did not allow me the opportunity to do what I wanted most -- to be together as a family. Today, my small business writing and consulting provides me with fulfilling work-life balance.

Why I am a Mormon

Even though I was raised in a Mormon family, it wasn't until I was 19 that I accepted the challenge to read The Book of Mormon and find out for myself what I believed. Each day I would read until a felt that a story, line or verse was relevant to me. The experience was more impactful than I anticipated, and I found that the academic, social and financial aspects of my life were coming together because I was coming together. Since then I've been asked how being a Mormon impacts my life. I can't think of a way that it doesn't. I have a personal testimony of a loving Heavenly Father that has a plan for me, knows me by name, and hears and answers my prayers. I have tremendous gratitude for my savior, Jesus Christ, who as the father of my salvation, provided a way for me to return with my family to live again with our Heavenly Father. The gospel of Jesus Christ is light and truth that I can follow to make the best choices, like how to treat myself and others. I am blessed to share with my husband and family the peace, protection, direction and happiness that come from being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How I live my faith

Each day, I teach my children gospel principles through my own actions. I teach them that they can have a relationship with their Father in Heaven through daily prayer when we give thanks for specific blessings, and ask for others. I teach them that by serving others in the family, community, nation and world, we become more like Christ. We set aside time to read and discuss scriptures daily, enjoy recreational activities together, and talk and listen to each other -- a lot! Some of our favorite family activities are biking, skiing, tennis, cultural activities and fine art events. Sunday is different than the other days of the week. We attend church meetings together, visit family members and perform other church service.
