Hi I'm Dennis Van Campen

I'm a Mormon. I live in Peoria, Arizona, which in July and August is like living on the surface of the sun.

About Me

Hi, I am Dennis Van Campen, I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and my mother was a Morman, my Dad was a Mason and that made for an interesting childhood. I did attend Church in my youth, and enjoyed it. I met the girl I wanted to marry and her family were very good Mormans. My wife to be and her family wanted her to get married for all "Time and Eternity", which is one of the key steps towards a Celestial blessing. I had been slack in obtaining all the Priesthood keys needed to attend the Temple and be married in that fashion, so I had to get really serious and studied and prayed, and finally was able to obtain the necessary Priesthood to attend the Temple. We got married and have 3 Children, we have celebrated life and just passed our fiftieth year of marriage. I give the Temple marriage all the credit, it is the glue that held us together all these years. We have the rest of eternity to continue our relationship and enjoy our family forever. The second part of my story is the 20 plus years that I spent in the Scouting Program. The Morman Church (the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints) strongly believes in the Scouting Program and the values that it promotes. The joys of serving the youth and watching their progress as moved from one rank to another in the program are special to me. I was fortunate to have over 40 Eagle Scouts graduate from the Troop our Ward sponsored.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born in the Church, and know that it's concepts are good and true. Joseph Smith, the Prophet who translated the Golden Plates had to have Heavenly help, the task was to large for common man to do alone.

How I live my faith

When I lived in Sandy, my wife and I got very involved with Sandy City. We volunteered our time in many civic clubs and City organizations. We were active in the Chamber of Commerce, the Sandy Exhange Club, the Rotary Club, and the Boy Scouts of America. We supported the Sandy Arts Guild, helping start the Sandy Ampheatre and guiding new talent to area. I serve the adults in our area here in Phoenix, helping teach the gospel and sharing my testimony with many friends and acquaintenances. We help at the Canning Factory and the Deseret Industries (a place to donate and distribute home and personal items).
