Hi I'm Joyce

I'm a wife, a mother of seven, and a student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a wife, a mother of seven (all girls but six), and a grandmother of 13. I'm an online student, studying for a degree in Family History/ Genealogy. I love to find out more about my family members, even if they lived hundreds of years ago! I have lived in five states: Idaho, Utah, Georgia, Arizona, and Colorado, and three countries: US, Germany, and Russia.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm grateful I was born in the faith, but I discovered in high school that it wasn't enough to just believe what my faithful parents taught me. Many times throughout my life I have felt the Spirit testify to me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the true and living church on the earth today. I'm ever grateful for the guidance and help it has been to me as I married a wonderful man and raised a large family.

How I live my faith

I have had many opportunities to serve my brothers and sisters in the church. Although born and raised in a small town in the Western US, I have had the privilege of visiting and living in many parts of the world. In each of these places, I have been a part of loving and serving others, whether in the women's program or the youth groups, as a teacher or administrator. One truth I have discovered for myself is that we are all brothers and sisters, children of God, and He loves each one of us. In serving others, we are developing our own talents while helping others grow in truth and light.

Can you tell me about Mormon customs: how you dress for church, what holidays you celebrate, etc.?

Joyce
I wear a dress or skirt to church on Sundays. I feel that what I wear reflects my attitude of respect, love and devotion for God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ. How would I dress if I were really going to meet them, face to face? I would wear my best. My husband and sons wear white shirts and ties, usually with suits, which reflects the example given by our leaders. I try to always be modest in my dress, whether at church, home, or exercising. Our main celebrations are at Christmas as we focus on the birth of our Savior, and Easter as we joy in His Resurrection and the promise of Eternal Life. We also celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, national holidays and important milestones in our family. Show more Show less
