Hi I'm Patricia

I am a jack of all trades, master of none, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've trained dolphins in the Keys, sailed down the Chesapeake, sung in the Vatican and cut my own hair. As the mother of seven children, I believe that a child's life should be a palate of experiences, so they have swum with wild turtles, explored the langi of Tonga and hiked the ruins of China. A part time foodie, I make my own jam and enjoy flavors from around the world. From Thai Tom Ka Gai to Korean Jap Chae and Italian Bolognese, food is my passion! Once I even had an Indian-Fijian woman live with us, just so I could learn to make Indian curry (well, she was also homeless...) Reading is a passion! I have reveled in the adventures of Captain Cook, Thor Heyerdahl and Dervla Murphy. What a joy to study the lives of Geoffrey Chaucer and William Shakespeare, finding connections through time and place in history. I dabble in languages, English, Spanish, Italian and a smattering of ASL. However, more often than not they seem to get me into trouble (though I don't mind that).

Why I am a Mormon

There was this gorgeous man who took me on a crazy date! We explored the Washington, D.C. Temple Visitor's Center (amazing Christmas lights!!!!) and fell in love. However, I lived hundreds of miles away and we had to say good-bye. *sigh* Home in Chicago, the missionaries taught me the principles of the Gospel, fasted and prayed with me and encouraged me to press forward. I was baptized March 7, 1992! Mr. Amazing and I both served missions and were married in Dallas 38 months after our first date.

How I live my faith

I sing! I dance! I celebrate with my loved ones a weekly family party with games and treats. I try to make the lives of others a little sweeter, starting from home and spreading around the world. Every day in every way, I try to live my love of the Savior – He is my hope and salvation.
