Hi I'm Dave

I love being a Latter Day Saint. It keeps me busy and gives me purpose. I love the opportunity it gives me to serve. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the father of five great kids and grandfather of 6 grandchildren. When I was 16 I had a job picking pineapple in Hawaii. After I served my mission in Argentina I started college but ended up working at UPS as a "Service Provider". I have worked there since 1979. They work me hard. I have had many opportunities to serve in the church, among them being a Scout Master, where I really enjoyed the 50 mile hikes and canoe and kayak trips. I currently serve with in a Young Single Adult ward in the Bishopric and they are a delight to serve with! They have a lot of energy so we receive opportunities to serve the community by spreading bark at local schools, gathering and sorting food at the food bank or cleaning up the local park. We enjoy giving service to the Church and to the community. I love to fish and enjoy making my own lures. I have even made my own fishing rods and enjoy catching King Salmon on a #8 fly rod.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 7, Missionaries came to our door. Turns out that my Dad was a less active member of the church. Though my Dad never did go to church and my Mom never joined, I had an Uncle Em who would come up to our house and give us rides to church. My siblings and I enjoyed of the sports opportunities and scouts and in general the good people of the LDS church. As I attended and learned the doctrine I came to know of my Savior and his love for me. I left on a mission to Argentina and was able to exercise the priesthood and see the blessings in peoples lives. I have read the Book of Mormon and have put the promise of Moroni to the test and have recieved a witness that it is true. I have seen and felt the blessings in my life. I feel that my daughter was miraculously saved by the power of a priesthood blessing.

How I live my faith

In my ward I am a counselor to the Bishop in our ward or congregation. Though I have a demanding job, I enjoy serving with my brothers and sisters in the faith. I try to follow Jesus Christ by "if ye have done it unto the least of these, my brethren, ye have done it unto me." As we " lose our life" in the service of God, we are richly blessed and "find it". In my family I try to do extra by helping with the chores and supporting the family activities after work. My family appreciates this and loves me. I love them dearly. By being a worthy member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I enjoy the blessings of the priesthood! I have been able to give health blessings to family and those in need and have seen evidence of Our Heavenly Fathers love for us through his healing powers. As I live the gospel, I regularly feel promptings of the spirit that help me through life. It gives me joy and happiness to know my Heavenly Father loves me as he also loves all his children.
