Hi I'm Preston

I'm a college student. I'm a rapper. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love weight lifting, making positive music and reading books about success. I'm studying communications and plan to go into broadcasting. My dream is to become a radio personality for a pop station. I'm also a brother, a son, a leader and a friend.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a Mormon family. We went to church every Sunday and had youth activities every Wednesday. I was raised doing service projects and helping elderly people in the community. Since I was a young boy I always wanted to serve a two-year mission for my church. I turned 19 and was eligible to start my paperwork and go. I was in college, involved in water polo and had a busy lifestyle. The thought of leaving everything I knew to serve the Lord was terrifying. I realized that I was about to go door-to-door for 24 months trying to teach people the gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew I would face people much older and knowledgeable than I was. I would be expected to explain the Bible and the Book of Mormon to people who had little to no understanding of them. I realized that I had been taking my parents word my whole life and just doing what they told me to do when it came to religious matters. My situation brought me to my knees. I decided to ask God, expecting an answer, if He wanted me to serve a mission. That night, on the ninth floor of my dorm room apartment, I received a witness that I should do it. I know there is a God, He hears my prayers and He answers them in His own way and timing. As tears streamed down my face I walked to the window and looked out on the city of Knoxville. I felt the most powerful need I have ever felt to help every single person in the world. At that time, if I had the ability to shout loud enough that every everyone could hear me, I would have done it. I would have given up everything to help even just one person. The Church of Jesus Christ really is on the earth today. I am one of many witnesses. Jesus Christ lives and His church has been restored. I am a Mormon because I prayed and asked God and I got an answer.

How I live my faith

Being a Mormon is hard work. I am a leader over about 30 of my male peers. I work with two other leaders who organize and motivate the members of our group to do a program called Home Teaching. We visit every single individual's apartment, who are in our congregation, each month. We make sure everyone's needs are being met and that they are successful in their school and extracurricular activities. I'm expected to attend three hours of church service every Sunday and an hour and a half for another religious study group during the week. I am also encouraged to tell everyone about my faith and be active in the community. All of the work that I do is unpaid. I serve because I love God.
