Hi I'm Joe

I am a husband, a dad to 8 kids, 5 by blood, 3 by marriage, a roofing superintendant, a volunteer soccer coach, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I guess I am first a husband to an amazing, kind, gentle, and affectionate woman. At the time I wrote this, we have been married 5 weeks. Together we have 8 children, 5 of "mine", 3 of "hers" that we both consider "ours." I love doing things with my kids. Whether it is just sitting watching a movie, playing a game, or out on the soccer field as their coach, my time with my kids is very valuable to me. As a soccer coach, I have coached from very young kids of 7-8 to older 16, 17, 18 year old boys and even one adult indoor team. I currently am coaching a u18 team for a new soccer club. I volunteer my time as a coach to give more boys more of an opportunity than they might have gotten otherwise. I work for a roofing company as a quality control superintendant and customer relations specialist. I have been a superintendant for 18 years and been a roofer for 22 years. It has been a decent living but more important has been flexible enough to allow me time for and with my kids in many ways.

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon, some may say, because my parents, and their parents and generations before them were Mormon. And the heritage they have left me may indeed be one of the reasons that I am Mormon. However, I am Mormon because I have received answers to prayers, seen miracles of many kinds, been blessed for choosing to be in the right places at the right time. I am Mormon because of the witness of the spirit of God confirming from a young age that God lives and is my Heavenly Father, that He loves me, that He is my Father, that He wants what is good for me, that Christ is my Savior, and that He wants me to know these things so taught them through prophets that He called for that purpose. The Spirit has also confirmed for me that God calls prophets today to keep teaching us and to show us He loves us as much as those He loved in the past, the first of those in modern days being Joseph Smith. That same spirit teaches me that the authority to act in God's name has to be given by God, in the way it always has been given and not just taken upon ones self. I have received answers to prayers in overcoming hurt and betrayal and unemployement. I have had experiences that I cannot deny have come from God that confirm for me my beliefs and are the core as to why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by working hard to be a good employee. I volunteer as a coach to give opportunities to young men to be better athletes and soccer players, but also to influence them to good decisions in their lives in overcoming hard things, obtaining rewards, and in seeing how our actions can affect others around us. I relate their lives to the game of soccer to help them see things from a different perspective. I am their friend, but still hold them accountable and responsible to the team and to themselves. I show them and their families respect and love. In church I get to teach in our Gospel Principles class. I love this class because it is smaller and centers on teaching the simple princicples that make up Christ's gospel on this earth. In our home, I enjoy most my wife and I joining in companion prayer together at the end of each day. I love family prayer when we get to kneel and thank Heavenly Father for all the blessings we have in our life and to ask for Him to bless us and those we love.
