Hi I'm Guy

I am a father of 5, grandfather of 8 (at the moment), and a husband. I like to work hard and play harder. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors. I like to water-ski and snow ski, and do just about anything that requires adrenaline. Before I was married, I competed in a world hang gliding competition, barefoot water-skied at 80 MPH, and was on a freestyle snow ski team. As I have grown older, I still love to test my skills, but I find true joy in just being with my family. To me there is nothing more exhilarating than walking into a home of one of my children and finding a grandchild running toward me excitedly yelling "Papa, Papa."

Why I am a Mormon

I remember when I was very young sleeping outside with my friends and looking to the sky. I found myself mesmerized by the stars and the expanse of the universe. I couldn't help but wonder what lies beyond this beautiful expanse, where I came from, and what happens after this life. I continued to wonder about these things throughout my life. It wasn't until I had been married and had two children of my own that I found the answers. One day my wife and I openly discussed that we thought we were in a rut. We thought we needed a new circle of friends. We questioned whether we were raising our children the way we should. It was as if the Lord heard that plea even though we didn't realize at the time that were even praying. Within a few days, we were visited by the full-time missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Mormons). The message they had really hit home for both of us. We embraced what was taught, and received confirmation that what they were teaching was in fact true. We were loved into our new ward, made a set of lifelong friends, and have never looked back.

How I live my faith

I love working with the youth. Almost all of the assignments I have had in the Church have been associated with the youth in one way or the other. I am currently serving as a Scout Master (BSA) for my congregation. I love this calling not only because I get to spend time with some great young men, but I also get to feed my passion for the outdoors. It is really a license to have fun! I am fortunate enough to have had all four of my sons serve full-time missions for the Church. Each of my five children love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and strive to be the best they can be. As a father, this is the sweetest joy one could have. I know that families can be together forever. I know that God lives. I know that Jesus is the Christ, and that through His atoning sacrifice, we can all return to live with Him if we follow Him. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is upon the earth today. It was restored through a modern-day Prophet—Joseph Smith. I am grateful to know that we are led by a Prophet today, and that Thomas S. Monson is that Prophet. I know these things because I have had that confirming witness testify that they are true. I also know that this witness is not reserved only for a select few, but that anyone who truly seeks after it can find out for themselves.
