Hi I'm Duane Hunt.

I'm a husband. I'm a father. I'm a veterinarian. I'm a tool-nut. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of my favorite things are woodworking, animals, and tractors, but my most favorite things are my family and my faith. So growing up on a farm might have influenced the first three, but now I am a city boy. I am raising a great family with my wonderful wife and working as a small animal veterinarian.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up in a Mormon family, I spent Sundays going to church, singing the primary songs, and doing the things that started my introduction to a testimony of Jesus Christ. As I matured into my teen years, I became aware that there were choices in activities and lifestyles that were not the things that I was taught to do. I remember desiring my own testimony, so that living as I was taught would be easier. It is approximately twenty-five years later, and I still remember the feelings that I experienced as I read the Book of Mormon and prayed to know of its truth. I was filled with peace and the assurance that the Book of Mormon is true and that Joseph Smith was the Lord's prophet to restore His church to the earth. Those feelings were the start of feelings I continue to have as I read, pray, and live the commandments of the Lord. As my testimony has grown I have felt the need to serve God. Going on a mission, teaching Sunday School, participating in the sponsored Boy Scout troop are a few of many opportunities I have had to serve. As I participate regularly, I feel the fellowship of fellow members of the church. I also appreciate the comprehensive nature of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Study of the scriptures (Book of Mormon, Bible, and others) and regular attendance of church meetings continues to help me develop my understanding, which helps me in my ordinary, every day life. The teachings of Christ help me as a husband and father to cherish my wife to raise my family right (hopefully). They help my to chart my course through life. They comfort me when the bumps and bruises of life are tough to bare. As an example, two years ago I lost my sister to a very acute bout of Leukemia. Understanding that there is life after death and that God has a way that families can be together forever has made her loss less painful. Life seems to have more meaning, joy, and comfort knowing why we are here and what it is all about.

How I live my faith

I spend a few hours on Sundays and often during the week, also, helping to administrate the needs of our local ward. I make sure that I deal honestly and fairly with everyone. I try to know and serve my neighbors. Some of my best friends are old neighbors. I participate in fundraisers for worthy causes, like defeating cancer.
